ACTOR Ranveer Singh, who supposedly watched his first NBA game in February 2016, is now the poster boy for the India arm of the NBA. For fans of the sport, that sentence probably holds two surprises, not the least of which is the fact that the NBA has an Indian chapter. What surprised us the most, however, was to learn that the big-ticket actor ostensibly posed for the North-American National Basketball Association gratis --you read that right: Free. But we suppose Singh's gesture had little to do with his love for the sport. Apparently, this is the actor's attempt to nudge his way past other Indian film stars who're hoping to toward Hollywood. Association with America's much-loved sport, Singh hopes, may just be his fast-pass to global fame. Well played, no?
