Varun's last 2 releases had many setbacks

Dishoom - poor trailer, music, director and low buzz with release just 2 weeks after Sultan and week after Kabali

Badrinath Ki Dulhania - poor release date due to festivity, weakest month for Bollywood films and exams period

Recall even Besharam came on same holiday 4 years ago and had over 20cr opening day despite having a shitty trailer. Imagine David Dhawan can't make it any worse than Besharam for sure. People on here underestimate his star power

I don't think thats true.. Varun is the first actor to have managed that if I remember correctly.. Suryavanshi and Love were flops and I am pretty sure they were within the 7 films range after MPK
