Why does she do such kind of roles? Who will watch it. Seems like another flop

Vidya is a competent actress but somehow when it comes to nazakat or poise then NO one comes near Rekha; she is simply brilliant. Such roles remind me of her.

Rituparna deserved the award for playing Begum Jaan in the original Bengali Rajkahini. But NA denied her best actress award

If Vidya can nail the part then she might get it.

The Bengali original was so brutal, shocking, harsh, cruel, after watching it I felt numb.

I bet they will tone down the brutality in the Hindi version

Partition of India, those were brutal times, and that film showed how women were violently abused during that era in all its raw ugliness.

This role is not abt nazakat or mujras but Begum Jaan was a hard as nails brothel madam who is rough on the outside but with a soft heart and fiercely protective abt her proteges and abt her home.
