I do not agree on 90's actors should go away. That is actors and audiences call. Or whether they are still youthful looking (this can be answered by Bollywood audience who are young). What I can definitely say is we are placing too much pressure on these actors to deliver which is stressing them out. You can see SRK looking haggard, Salman injured, so on and so forth. Science may improve looks but can't alter physiology. Exercise is helping them maintain weight body structure but they will never be as fit as they were in their 20's or 30's.

It is one thing to be on top when industry is working. Another when it is failing. It can no longer be sustained by 1 or 2 hits- even if it is big. Nobody is going to accept them as 20 or 30 year old and younger audience will start getting alienated when those stories will not be told. We need several actors who will keep the "chulla" of Bollywood burning.

Beside who said Khans were at top from late 80's. They had to go through tribulation and major FLOPS. Luckily for them there was a vacuum at top and audience taste was changing thanks to change in country. They really worked hard.

Till 90s trend was for gradual overtaking by new generation actors from senior actors. It just happened without special efforts, as a natural process. How? I maybe wrong but as per me, the actors till 90s made it through sheer hard work without negligible or minimal support. For every Sunny Deol & Sanjay Dutt, there was a Govinda and Jackie Shroff. Even star sons and daughters then got support or benefit of being from industry only for first film or first 1-2 films. They were here because they genuinely deserved it, not because it was a fashion for most star-sons and daughters to be launched. or maybe then there weren't enough star sons and daughters 😆

Till 90s, film makers actually made genuine efforts to also launch non-film actors. Out of so many who dreamt to make it big in Bollywood, only those lucky few made t, who had something extra in them. Something which the screen loved, and a director recognised it. Some quality along with screen presence which only belonged to him. Even out of those lucky few, only the best remained, and those best one gradually became super stars, overtaking previous generation as leads. Even those who came from modeling world, like Zeenat (She was first to win title of Miss.Asia Pacific, a title which Diya mirza won after her), Parveen babi were the best. We know how SRK made it to the top, by his talent, hard work. We know how salman was rejected, insulted year after year for a break, because he made efforts only on his own basis. We know how yesteryear actors, some of them had to sleep on footpaths, wait for months in small room till they got breaks. Now, that thing is not here at all, those persons with real zeal and fire.

Now, what I see is every other actor who works in films as leads has some or other relation with film industry people, some link. I was shocked that some of those I thought were non-films completely had actually some link with film industry, So no non-glamour world star now is there; only star-kids or models. They have power to succeed, but not that extra screen presence or that charm which makes them unique and make people go not only La la over them but also Crazy, Mad, spellbound. Sushant Singh Rajput is there, but only he is there. ratio is very poor. Tell me, why does a Karan Johar, doesn't give good breaks to Gurmeet Chowdhry or Rajeev Khandelwal for that matter? Such fab actors, (just an example) do not get good films to prove themselves nor the chances after chances which star kids or models get!

^^ A Gurmeet is a bad actor in my opinion so eaving him aside😆, Rajeev is a phenomenal actor with some terrible choices.. the problem is that these actors endeavor to have it easy (Not taking about Rajeev)
Take a look at Sushant.. He bided his time till KPC came his way which was a good launch and enabled him to be noticed... on the other hand, most of the TV actors end up signing erotics because these movie offers come easily.. they don't wait for the right option
Shahrukh did not get YRF right from the start.. He had to do a Baazigar, Deewana, MM and many other films before YRF came to him but he did start from the right movie, so much so that he managed to make his presence felt against Rishi K
Same with Sushant.. It is the wrong beginning for these TV actors which usually costs them their careers

LOL, Gurmeet is not my favourite, that was just an example. So not defending him. but, I agree, with the way Sushant did it. Smart of him. But aside from TV actors, I also meant, any deserving person, who wants to make it in Bollywood and deserves it. But they aren't noticed now at all.
I agree ab out other aspects: problem is actors to have it easy and bad choices.

See nepotism is rampant, I agree lekin I would also say people have become lazy now and look for easy ways to get noticed instead of willing to go through the whole haul

Khans were not at the top since the late 80s and it's true they had to go thru several setbacks before reaching the top.

But there's no denying they started becoming popular, gaining fans, especially became heartthrob of millions of teenage girls from their first film maybe bcz of their charisma, talent, luck etc or bcz there was a vacuum left and audience taste was changing as you say

Aamir - QSQT 1988, was a huge hit, girls went crazy

Sharukh - DEEWANA 1992 but he attracted fans( females in particular) in the late 80s when he was a TV actor (TV stars then were not as big as they are today and it was doordarshan)

Salman - First movie as a leading man MPK -1989 (his second movie)

This is a little off topic
I think bodybuilding and showing off your physique in every movie that is going topless 😆 - that trend was started by Salman in the 90s and then everybody started doing it.
