Local authorities said the deceased has been identified as Farheed Khan Pathan, a local politician.

One person was killed and two policemen were injured as crowd went berserk after Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan arrived at the railway station in Vadodara on Monday night by August Kranti Rajdhani Express for promotion of his upcoming film Raees'

Officials at the railway police control room here said, "At around 10.30 p.m. the train arrived at platform number six of the station and halted for 10 minutes."

"Shah Rukh's fans had gathered in large number to have a glimpse of the actor who had boarded the train from Mumbai and is going to Delhi as part of the promotional campaign for his film," railway police said.

"The crowd went berserk when the train halted and began banging its window panes and even falling on top of each other. Police had to resort to mild lathi-charge to control the crowd.

"When the train started moving, people started running along with it. Due to the rush, one person died of breathlessness and two policemen posted there to control the crowd were injured," they said.

Local authorities said the deceased has been identified as Farheed Khan Pathan, a local politician.

The Bollywood superstar had boarded the train from Mumbai Central for Delhi as part of his promotional campaign Raees by Rail'

Cricketers Irrfan and Yusuf Pathan were also at the station to meet Shah Rukh Khan.

Rather than this, they wud have put posters on the trains like some companies are doing on Delhi Metro.

I never understand how these type of promotion boost the opening of a movie or promote the movie. No one is going for Raees becoz SRK was in Vadodra or in Delhi. These type of things may have any effect on small towns but how does it matter in case of big cities.

Why don't these stars realize that visiting crowded places will eventually mean uncontrollable crowd. Is police here only to mange such events? It's wastage of public resources.
Khans are too big stars to go to such public places.
They should also stop going to Malls and other places to promote movies .

Police was there. Two injured people are policemen only. Train Station are not very big places. these promotion type of things cant be held on stations.

SRK must have been aware that such promotion stunt can cause commotion at public places.B-towners go to extreme levels to promote their film.

@bold - here we have people blaming authorities. That Authorities should be more prepared.

Yes, who cares for Police constables life. And of course they have nothing better to do than control some star struck people. Coz hey, In India that is the priority of police.

SRK is stupid to decide to go on such promotion. Train stations are anyway crowded. And coz of him, there's chaos everywhere. Even if someone is not interested in seeing him and is there to board the train, bhai aap ruko. Hamare super-ishtar aaye hai. 🤪

In India, authorities really need to stop pampering these stars. Promotion karna hai, Jimmedari aapki. khud ke kharche pe karo. Ghanta security nahi milegi.

Same goes for fans. Stars ko dekhna hai, khud ke risk pe jao. We won't provide any security.

Celebrity worshipping mein Marna hai.. sure. Go ahead. If you don't care for your life.. why would anyone else. 🥱

Yes I'm really really sad for the person who died but let's go go blaming someone that's not even entirely at fault. There is a crowd hundred times bigger outside Mannat but nobody has ever died there.
And I even blame the victim here... if you are clearly suffocating then you should get out.. no star is worth you health or life.

He came to the station to visit the her... How is this his fault? Maybe was unable to get out...

It might not be the stars' fault! But the organizers bear some responsibility for the stampede.

I don't even know why SRK thought this cheap promotional tactic was necessary knowing the obvious safety risks it could cause. How does it even sell the film, let's go watch Raees because a superstar celebrity fraternized, breathed the same air as us mere mortals 🤪. I'm also upset by the fans that have lost touch with reality to this extent.
