Oh for f**ks sake, if you cant come up with decent stories, don't ruin other's hardwork.

Drive is a masterpiece, a true work of cinematic art. It is very difficult movie to film, giving the distinct atmosphere and style it carries. Refn's brilliance as a director is what makes the movie. The cinematography is stunning and that soundtrack is love (I can't imagine the movie without these two elements).

A neo-noir thriller, a protagonist who doesn't talk much, the most we know about him is that he has a past which is never shown, loves to drive and is inseparable from that awesome jacket. Plus a non-linear plot that relies on the viewer to pick things up and caries so much visual information. That is Drive.
They don't have a prayer to emulate even 10% of what Refn achieved.

This is not going to an official remake.They have get the rights to the novel which the movie is based on (which means getting a yes from the writer, the studio and probably the directer too). Not going to happen, they probably aren't even aware of the existence of the book.

Clarity, please watch it when you can, it's a good movie! :)
My opinion is, it will be very difficult to show so much in the movie without saying much especially when it comes down to showing the relationship between Driver-the lady.. They have an attraction but do not say to each other - and almost 60% of the scenes between them involves no communication, they have this eye-contact thing going on that is just... ❤️
I do think Sushi is a good pick... but Jacq, IDK.. aren't there better female actors?

MUSIC - good question, because in Drive two songs were used which were widely loved. And, being a neo-noir movie - it has so much "new retro wave" feel to it. IDK if it has happened everywhere, but for me though, I caught a retro fever after watching this movie and it's around the time the movie was released that this genre of music was gaining a craze as well... :-)

Here are the two songs that were played in the original.. Nightcall is my favorite.

(posting the two so just incase you are interested you can watch the clippings from movie :p )

I love, love the sound track. 80's retro synth ❤️. Electronic music is probably my favourite.

I am putting the opening credits sequences here where the music was used. It works here the best in my opinion, really sets the mood of the movie.

That whole sequence, the music, the way its shot, the lighting and the neon pink writing. One of the best ever.👏👏

One looks at that and it tells you how hopeless this whole exercise is. I am going to absolutely loathe this remake, should it happen.

Have you seen The Guest? Its great, similar to Drive and has a killer soundtrack as well.

The thing about Drive that makes it special is it's visual and score. I have never seen any director from BW that has the eyes for this type of visual. This is Refn's trademark. I've seen only three of his movie (Drive, Only God Forgives, The Neon Demon) and all of these has a distinctive style of visual that you can tell it's Refn's.

Here's hope for the best. I'm sure they're gonna shoehorn some unnecessary action scenes to make it more single screen friendly and songs, which is fine if it's fit the situation. Sushant should be okay I guess. But Jackie, idk. I like her but... err we'll see I guess.

@Arsal -- Oh yay! :D ..thanks for posting the scene ❤️ ..
You know, I was feeling the same thing - I watched the ones posted again and... it just reinforced the fact that how a piece of art once produced, cannot be re-created again.. ⭐️

SO agree with everything you said, it's an iconic movie. Every scene in the movie speaks much more than what is just shown, everything has so much meaning - the jacket with scorpion symbol, the gloves, and let me not even start about the actors.. the direction was just art..

But somehow, I want to encourage the attempt as long as the Indian director keeps it original, his own, adds his flavour or gives his vision without attempting to copy it ...because any such attempt would be in vain.

About The Guest - no I havent, but since you say it has a good soundtrack, I will watch it - I am down for any movie that will please my ears :p

I generally don't like remakes. Even if this was a Hollywood re-production, I won't be in favour of it. With Bollywood you know they are going add songs, dances and cheap dialogue that will spell everything out. That is robbing Drive of what it is, what makes it so special.

A much better thing for this film-maker to do would be get inspired by the style, the story and tell a new one on his own. Bring that style to Bollywood. But that would require creativity.

The only times a remake makes sense to me is that if its an old movie and they want to tell it with modern sensibilities. Seeing as many people won't go back and watch it.

On The Guest, here is one song from the soundtrack;

Drive is such a delicate movie like Ceviche but now BW will add their masala of naacha-gaana-bajana, tadka of item numbers ,overcook with melodrama which will result into indigestion.
I can assure you that there will be sequence like after a long day SSR will enter into a bar and witness an item number.
