There is apparently much ado about Kareena Kapoor's new born baby named "Taimur". RSS wallahas are saying that Taimur Lang was an oppressor (of course he was). Tarek Fateh has been chiming in with RSS (as usual).
The facts are that people name their children for two main reasons 1) they like the sound of a name. 2) they like what it means. Taimur means foladi that is "made of steel". It is a very common name in Turkey, Central Asia and even in Russia (it is also pronounced Timur, Tamer and Demir). Taimur Lang was not the first nor the last Taimur. Frankly when my family named me Taimur they hardly ever thought of any connection to Tamerlane who lived 700 years ago.
Those making a fuss about this name need to consider that sometimes, just sometimes, it would be nice if they didn't make a complete ASS of themselves.
Among all these vilification, going by name of his family history, its strongly likely Taimur reffered to having meaning rather than refer to any historical figure.
