I watched it again yesterday & she is so, so real & natural onscreen. Even though she often plays these lost, confused Gen X manic pixie girl characters, she brings these certain nuances that set them apart. <3 Her character in K & S was an extension of sorts, of Kiara, but the way she played both you could sense the difference between the 2, even if you couldn't 'see' it. She was so, so good as Kiara ESP in the scene when she breaks down & cries. I used to know a girl very closely, who is a lot like Kiar- Friends are family, excellent photographer, loves travelling, is very bold, as cold, and is massivlrg commitment phobia & is constantly cheating in her "relationships"-- It was all a childhood lack. I loved Alia even in the bit where she walks out after the final session & is all happy & smiley only to reach the gate & break down in tears. These are all things I, and many here relate to. The Hero was the Story though which was brought out superbly by her. The very idea that mental health doesn't = A devastating news event or catastrophe, but rather a series of events that sneak up on us, is perhaps the truest depiction of it. The idea that going to therapy is as natural & normal as going to a doctor for a fever, is so real. I've been to therapy too & I remember the censure & scandalised looks people would give me when I would bring it up casually. They would tip-toe around it, advice me to never open my mouth lest some "good boy & his good family" doesn't want me to be their pride & joy of their house, in the future. They would look at me like I am crazy & ive also been told that to my face- How crazy I must be to go to one but I see it as acceptance, as bravery. It is much better to be aware of facts & face them to self-care, rather than bury them under the carpet & consider yourself superior to others. "Sabko dimaag ke Doctor ke paas jaanaa chahiye" is the best message this movie gives us.
P. S. I liked Sid so much, such a departure for Angad Bedi from his horrible rich brat role in Pink. 😆 I wish she would've ended up with him instead of showing ARK as a potential love interest but I reckon that wasn't the point of the movie at all. I got the feeling that she went back to each one of them (except Raghu because he was bit of a bitch to her but then, she was one to Sid so I reckon there is that karma at play) and apologised to them. And since she was genuine about it & since they're nice men who truly cared for her deeply at a point, they forgave her. Sid's kiss to Kiara's head confused me for a bit, lol, but it was platonic I realised later. I shipped them all through the movie though I reckon he needed someone who could give him the same level of commitment as he can which Kiara, at the time, really couldn't.
Kiara's longest relationship was with her maid & it was so sweet too. 😆
