From ADHM to Prisma:Apple lists Best of 2016 movies apps,games,m

As we inch closer to the end of 2016, it is that time of the year when companies start sharing the best we saw in this year. As is the norm, Apple has shared its Best of 2016' list that includes the top apps, games, music and movies that were released this year.

Let's start with music and movies first. According to Apple, the best song of 2016 is the title track of the movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil sung by Pritam and Arijit Singh. The best movie album of 2016 is from Udta Punjab, which was created by Amit Trivedi. Some of the other top songs this year include Sia's Cheap Thrills, Kapoor & Sons' Kar Gayi Chull, Baar Baar Dekho's Kala Chasma, The Chainsmokers' Closer, and Coldplay's Hymn for the Weekend among others. Apart from Udta Punjab, the list of top albums also includes movies like Kabali, Kapoor & Sons, Baar Baar Dekho, Sultan, and music albums like Justin Bieber's Purpose and Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams among others.

As for movies, Apple lists Sultan, Sairat, Kapoor & Sons, Deadpool, Star Trek Beyond, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Fan among others. The list of best sellers this year on iTunes include The Intern, The Martian, Dilwale, Dil Dhadakne Do, and Now You See Me 2 among others.

Moving on to apps and games that made their mark on the App Store this year. Apple has named Prisma as the best app of 2016. The ability to add artsy effects to our usual photos was a big hit among users. After a few performance-related issues initially, the app has considerably improved since, and has also added the ability to add filters to videos. Apart from Prisma, the list of 10 best apps of 2016 includes Fitso Running & Fitness app, MSQRD, Folloscope, Hyper, Tinycards, Memrise, Meditation Studio, Quartz and WiFire.

The company has further broken down the list of apps into paid and free. The top paid apps for 2016 include DSLR Camera, CamScanner +, Hitman: Sniper, iScanner - PDF Document Scanner app, Leo's Fortune, Flightradar24 - Flight Tracker, Enlight, LightX, Alto's Adventure, Colorburn, Scanner for Me, Facetune, Pixomatic, and Live Wallpapers for Me among others. The list of top free apps of 2016 include all the usual suspects. The list is led by WhatsApp, and is followed by Facebook, SHAREit, Messenger, YouTube, Instagram, Ola Cabs, Google Maps, Uber, Imo free video calls and chat, Flipkart, Prisma, Paytm, MyJio, and UC Browser among others.

As for games, Clash Royale tops the list. The rest include Chameleon Run, FIFA Mobile Football, Plants vs Zombies Heroes, Reigns, BLUK, Rodeo Stampede - Sky Zoo Safari, PKTBALL - Endless Arcade Smash Sport, Rubek, and Steppy Pants. Apart from this, Apple has also listed the top grossing apps of 2016, which include Clash of Clans, Candy Crush Saga, Clash of Kings, Netflix, Tinder, LinkedIn, Zynga Poker, Game of War, Teen Patti, Mobile Strike, Saavn and Gaana among others.
