I don't agree with this. Jazbaa had one of the highest opening collections for a female-oriented film, and that film had nothing else riding for it except the lead female star, no other bankable actors nor a good director or a big banner, still it opened pretty well.
And we saw Aishwarya in ADHM, it became a 100 cr hit in India and 200 cr superhit internationally, and audience didn't seem to mind it at all, in fact they loved it. So it is a misnomer that married actresses don't work, they will work if they continue being desirable and look fit.
I also disagree with Salman when he says actors have no say in the casting of actresses, that's just hogwash. Most times it's the actors who decide, or are active participants in deciding the lead actress. And when you say they don't want to do flowerpot roles, I don't agree again - which actress has said I don't want to do flowerpot roles? They are just not offered such roles! They are simply given to the actresses in their 20s.
