SpotboyE.com has it that Zoya will have to cool her heels until Sanjay Leela Bhansali is done with his magnum opus Padmavati (co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone). Explaining why, a source says, "Ranveer's Khilji look of Padmavati will not suit the role Ranveer will play in Zoya's film."
And the wait is at least a year from now. Padmavati is slated to hit theatres on November 17, 2017.
For those who've come in late, Zoya's film is rumoured to be based on the city-based rapper Naezy. The forthcoming project, rumoured to be titled Gully Boy, is about the lives of street rappers from Mumbai's chawls and ghettos, including artistes Naezy and Divine.
On the other hand, Padmavati is a period drama jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18. Its' being said that the film will be a dramatized account of the 1303 siege of the Chittor fort in Rajasthan. Alauddin Khilji led the invasion, motivated by his desire to capture the beautiful queen Rani Padmini, the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh.
Zoya's last film Dil Dhadakne Do too had Ranveer in a very strong portrayal, playing Anil Kapoor's son and Priyanka Chopra's brother.
