Generally speaking... That's true.

So old fashioned is still in vogue

haha, I watched Fan, so I do watch Hindi movies and criticism of Fan does not mean I look down upon Hindi movies but I see how it may look that way...with all the VFX hype and the trailer i had greater expectations.

Better shows and movies are coming out in Hindi, regional, English and international. I enjoyed the first half and I couldn't wait to see where the movie was going, but post interval destroyed everything the first half had built up. The action looked comical and started dragging instead of looking appealing (this is strictly my opinion). Had they hired someone different for the action choreography and made it more appealing... worked on the ending made it more impactful.. it would have worked. a lot of people liked the movie and i respect that, but there was absolutely no excuse for what they came up with in the second half with all the resources they had...i thought they just used the appeal of foreign locations for the sequences they came up with...

Oops, Sorry ...accidentally highlighted Fan part ...I meant in general sense.

Better shows and movies are coming out. People watch them with subtitles.
Guess you mean regional options ...like VVC is saying ...proof of pudding is Sairaat crossing 100 Cr with practically less then 1/4th the screens as Khans ...and 10% of the direct target audience

We no longer live in the 90's that foreign locations are appealing in BW movies.
...the movies which are far from reality ...guess reason VVC is pissed off on Indian audience...thats why i call these movies 3 hrs of opium dose.

They need to increase the pay of writers and dump directors that show no improvement.
Change is necessary to make movies view-worthy ...acknowledging the current status is first step to improvement.

Be practical. Either progress with the times or stay regressive.
-Same as above-

Hence said your view are similar to VVC...difference he said it bluntly.

P.S -SRK should experiment with Swades, CDI genre again instead of action & romance...might work with his current Image

It's bcoz movies with big stars didn't had pan India appeal this year. Shivaye lacked class appeal and ADHM lacked mass appeal. Airlift, Rustom and Fan also lacked mass appeal. Housefull 3 was made for masses but again, comedy movies were outdated. Sultan had pan India appeal and was liked by both masses and classes and that's why it was a big hit. Mohenjo Daro also had pan India appeal but it was a crap and that's why became disaster. For a movie to become a big hit it should have pan India appeal.

If Shivaay had done better than ADHM there would have been celebratory posts already

😆...What a logic !!

Its like saying Indian Olympic team should celebrate because Pakistan didn't win any medal

Both the films are not likely to be hits ...and may not even make top 5 grosser of the year in Domestic BO

Ticket prices are not so low and many people don't want to travel distance and spend money for too many films. A month later the films are shown on TV ... ppl don't feel they are missing out something if they don't watch a film on theatre.

The trade was mighty excited about this year, more than they've been for years. This was the year audience was supposed to flock to the theatres and every production house was supposed to get out of red, into black. Every star worth his salt had a big release

Aamir with Dangal
Salman with Sultan
Akshay with his three releases
SRK with his Fan
Hrithik with Mohenjodaro
Ajay with Shivayy
Ranbir with ADHM

Business has been declining for years now but This was supposed to be the best year ever and it's turned out to be the worst which is what makes it a disaster. Salman and Akshay have accounted for 30% of the total business of the year and by the end of the year Aamir and the other two will probably have 35% of the total theatrical revenue which is beyond terrible for a year expected to break all records.
