Media was wrong about Varun Arjun's episode.. that day they went to that other friendship wala show to shoot their episode.
Kareena-Sonam ka pata nahin.
But it's clear KJo is leaking the on the set pics only after SRK's episode to make everyone believe SRK was the one who cut the ribbon.

This episode and the offscreen events over the years are a confirmation that bollywood is trying hard to promote starkids like Ranbir and Alia as the best thing to happen to this universe.

It was boring they did it talk at all like the real conversations were about whose Alia dating and srk approach to cinema That's It and the new game is a complete waste of time. Karan should had brought srk alone especially there is a lot to talk about from Fan to Dewalli Clash.

But Akki and twinkle are coming the promo itself looks so much fun 🥳

Completely agree with you and I will not be surprised if karan bring harsh to the show with his dad and talk about his amazing journey to his first movie. Plus the show now become a place to promote movies before it was only about getting interesting people together and having fun.

First off, I just want to say I absolutely smiled while reading your post. It's one thing to find like-minded people on IF, but it's another pleasure when they know how to put it into appropriate words. Thank you. 😃

OT: I actually get where you're coming from. What I was trying to say however, that, say as a neutral viewer who enjoys good cinema, you don't have to try very hard to impress people when you're already good. See, the reason why Aamir's movies work is largely because he's been selecting the best scripts given to him (Let's ignore the debacle that was Dhoom!). He doesn't think about box office success, he thinks about the kind of movies he's making, and although they are overrated sometimes, they ring a bell, have a message and that's why they make an impact. I rarely like him as a person, but as an actor, he hits a mark because if someone's got the perfect combination of critical and commercial success, it's only him. You don't have to go through stupid commercial nonsensical flicks to enjoy box office success. Not necessarily at least. Especially with the younger, more intelligent urban pull. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how someone like SRK can possibly refuse 3I. It still stuns me.

That said though, I think when movies like Swades, Chak De or Fan fail to nail it at the box office, I can understand the rising waves of insecurity. Who knows how much would 'Dilwale' had made had Salman/Aamir been in that movie? As much as it's sad, it is true that SRK's audience pull has diminished over the years, no matter if he is the better actor of the three. I don't believe he doesn't want to make good cinema. Most of them do nowadays. Kids like Alia have chosen nothing but intelligent movies post their launch. I think actors, both males and females, understand that good movies can do well irrespective of how small a banner is. I feel SRK probably got lost somewhere in the '300 crores' rat race in the past 3-4 years, even if he doesn't care to admit it. Which brings me to his next line-up. He seems to have realized, post-Dilwale, that - picture ka dil badha hona chahiye, audience khud hi ajayegi dekhne. It's the only explanation I can find for doing a DZ.

This reminds me of something I heard Ranbir say recently as well. I don't think there's any formula in BW. Sometimes, it is truly unpredictable. SRK is still lucky, at this stage, he can afford not to worry about failures. Imagine a kid just starting out with his first movie. So nerve-wrecking, in an industry where songs are forgotten after 2 weeks nowadays. 😆

Awww...Thank you. The feeling is mutual :).

But see that's the thing ...art is so subjective man. I have seen so many gush about 3 Idiots and they are absolutely entitled to those opinions. I have tried to watch the movie a few times when it has aired on telly and every time I have tuned out because I frankly didn't see what the big deal was neither did I find it all that engaging. I'm sure others might feel that way about other movies that have been praised to the skies.

Now coming to Shahrukh and Aamir , these are two different people with a different approach to work. I might be biased here as I ain't a neutral viewer , I'm a Shahrukh fan but I feel most out there who are neutral as well know that their approach towards their work is a little different. In the sense that Shahrukh has stated quite a few times that for him it's darn important that he should be able to get along with the director , to sort of be on the same page as him. We all know how he has signed movies without even knowing how much he'll get paid for them when it comes to banners like YRF or Dharma. He has probably worked with Yash Ji without even getting a full narration of the movie he's supposed to do. It was almost decided that once they approach him for a movie , he'll do it after he did Darr with them. So in that way one can see the two styles of working here. Not saying , he doesn't read scripts. Or he doesn't get narrations of scripts but just pointing out the little differences there. Even when it comes to script sense , I feel you can't expect two actors to have a similar thought process that way. I mean he might have rejected some good films but then he has done movies like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa , FAN , Swades , Chak De , Dil Se and I could go on and on. There probably are movies that Aamir rejected that went on to do great business as well but then again nobody can predict the BO of a movie. Would I like him to work with a RajKumari Hirani? Sure! Do I feel bummed out that he didn't do a 3 Idiots? Not really.

FAN was a niche film though. I find it a little baffling when people compare how much it made at the BO with how much a commercial potboiler did. I mean those comparisons then get into the zone where you are comparing for the heck of it. I won't compare what a Talaash made at the BO with what a 3 Idiots did. So I think comparisons also have to have some semblance of logic to them. Dilwale might not have worked at the BO in India but it did tremendously well in the overseas market but I totally see where you are coming from. I remember Shahrukh stating in an interview he did after a week or so of CE's release that the monkey is off his back now. He was talking about all the talk of how he's finished , his movies haven't made the money that the movies of other Khans have so he has acknowledged those insecurities. I'm sure these things do get to these people considering how much focus there is these days on the BO numbers man. Not to mention that he was ruling the BO for majority of these years so he has sort of been that benchmark that others want to "beat" in a certain sense. When you are then ripped apart and told that you are finished , I'm sure it can get to you. But at the end of the day , one can't expect him to do just one kind of cinema. He's an actor. A Rohit Shetty film might not be for everyone out there but many do dig those movies. Same goes for Farah Khan movies. I mean I still haven't watched a CE because the trailers were enough to put me off 😆 yet I know so many who have not only watched it once but watched it plenty of times at the theater. As an audience , I don't want him to do just "intelligent" movies as you stated because frankly I have enjoyed a MHN as much as I have enjoyed watching a Dil Se. I might not care to watch a CE but I do think he is absolutely entitled to do that movie even though it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Those are the movies that make a lot of people happy.

I do see your point though about getting that balance right where a commercial movie has good content. He has done quite a few of those. But that combination of getting that balance right is still rare I feel. He has mentioned as to how nervous they were about Chak De. On paper it doesn't seem like a movie that will do well with at the BO but it did. So like you said the BO is so unpredictable man. Swades is one of my all time favorite movies of his and it didn't work at the BO so there really is no formula. He has stated sometimes he's in the frame of mind to do something fun so if he's getting offered a Farah Khan movie at the time , he would do it not only because he is in that frame of mind but also because he loves working with Farah. So it goes back to how these people approach scripts. And that is something that I feel is quite individualistic. Which is why I don't necessarily compare anyone's script sense as such.

Sorry for that essay 😆 but really enjoyed reading your post and wanted to throw my two cents out there :).

This is why I don't understand the big deal over Alia Bhatt. SRK was witty at his best but him and Alia look like baap beti, this new segment that KJO has been inspired by was so stupid. The Koffee Quiz was so much better why did he have to try something different? It doesn't always work. And yeah the same set of rankings is just so ridiculously boring now. The first episode was so awkward to watch, SRK seemed awkward as well.

I know KJO wants to promote Alia more and more but pair her up with her own set of actors, SRK is better on his own or an actor/actress he's appeared on before with.

I look forward to Akki-Twinkle's KWK, now that looks more interesting.

Alia was awkward and boring.

SRK was charming as always. He truly is witty.Loved him.

On the whole the episode lacked a punch. They need to get interesting pairs and not use it as a platform to promote upcoming movies. The show is supposed to be better than that.

2.5/5 ( 2.5 for SRK alone)
