The cumulative first week Diwali score of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay is less than last year at around 139.50 crore nett as last year Prem Ratan Dhan Payo alone managed 157.60 crore nett. The release of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was better positioned last year as far as holidays were concerned as it released on the day after Diwali to set an opening day record which still stands today. This year the Diwali releases had three of its seven day before the big Diwali holiday which are dull for business so in those terms to be just 18 crore nett behind a film like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a good result. Krrish 3 had a release on the same day and the figures of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay are around 15% higher. The top first week figures on Diwali week are as follows.
1. 2015 (Prem Ratan Dhan Payo) - 157.60 crore
2. 2016 (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Shivaay) - 139.50 crore apprx
3. 2014 (Happy New Year) - 133.60 crore
4. 2012 (Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Son Of Sardaar) - 133.41 crore
5. 2013 (Krrish 3) - 121.22 crore
6. 2011 (Ra.One) - 90.53 crore
7. 2010 (Action Replayy, Golmaal 3) - 85.12 crore
The big question now is that can it be the first 200 crore nett Diwali, its a tough ask and this weekend will tell if there is any chance.
