I think BM was much much better than Devdas..The colors were muted. The dresses were more authentic. more over Marathi people were happy with the dialects..the screenplay sucked for many people. But I think when you are directing a big canvas you need certain theatrics in acting to match with the exterior extravaganza. and I dont see any alternative than SLB in that matter.
The two movies you have mentioned are better than BM more because of the story. But performance wise all of them were good. (for me)
