Opening Day: ADHM
Karan Johar's highly anticipated directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) opened this Diwali, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan in a special appearance. The film opened with 50 per cent in multiplexes and 30 per cent in single screens. Distributors say the big numbers will roll in early next week.

The film's actual business will start on Monday as people will stay indoorson Saturday and Sunday for the Diwali pujas.

Ranbir Kapoor has his own fan following, especially among girls, and his fans here have given his film a 35-per cent opening in Bihar. In tis circuit, only films with a big star cast take a gigantic opening. This film is strictly for the classes and will do well in multiplexes only.

ADHM has a powerhouse of talent and the music of the film is also good. Moreover, the film made the headlines, which further helped its promotions. It opened with 40 per cent and is expected to grow over the weekend. The film is a typical Dharma Productions love story which has a loyal audience. It will do good business.

Opening Day: Shivaay
Ajay Devgn is back as a director after almost a decade, with one of his biggest dream projects, Shivaay. The action-packed film opened at the box office with 60-per cent occupancy at the single-screens and is expected to grow with the evening shows, since today is a working day. Distributors say the numbers will rise from tomorrow and the film's true business can be gauged only from the weekend, which in many states lasts till Tuesday this being the Diwali weekend.
