Priyanka Chopra on Deepika Padukone's Hollywood venture: I want to see what happens
Here's what Priyanka Chopra has to say about Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor's Hollywood ventures.

Despite Priyanka Chopra, having already carved a niche for herself in Hollywood, she soon will be or should we say has been compared with her contemporary Deepika Padukone. They may not have started their Hollywood venture at around the same time with PeeCee making a first go but with their debut in films coming at around the same time, chances of them being compared are severely high. Add the fact that now even Sonam Kapoor has gotten herself signed at an agency again puts more pressure on the competition women of Bollywood are having on a Hollywood front. While it looks like a healthy competition, one cannot neglect the fact that this is just the start and their debuts will say a lot more about what's to happen of these divas in the West. Now while everyone has themselves hooked to the ladies trying their hand in Hollywood, here's a journalist wondering why not the men trying their deal in the industry. In an interview with Anupama Chopra, the actress opened up on what her thoughts are about Deepika and Sonam's Hollywood ventures. Deepika has already wrapped up shooting of xXx: The Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel, Sonam has just signed with an agency as of now. To the ladies making their way into the West industry, the actress had a pretty good statement to make.
She said, "I want to see what happens, first of all. I hope all the actors, whoever come see the notoriety and the popularity that I have achieved or reached. I hope that happens to them because it's unbelievable when it happens in another country. When you walk out and you have like people who don't look anything like you, coming up and knowing you. And I hope that happens to Deepika and Sonam. Because they've signed up. But why the women is I feel, America suddenly sat up and said, Oh, this is great business module. To take an international superstar and put them into something and let it elevate.' Today is not about domestic, it's all about entertainment. It's global. So now everyone wants that." Here's a point that makes a lot of sense. Chopra sure has put in her producer's mind here to analyse this whole scenario and we are mighty impressed
The diva further continued over the whole stereotyping that she put an end to of an Indian actress in the West. She hopes that all the hardwork she put in should not go in ruins! Yes, she said, "Women, because we are beautiful and the exotic Indian girl, it's an easy fit. I've gone to the left and decided never to do it. I got a show which is on my shoulders. I'm doing a movie which I'm not the side chick, I'm the main villain of the movie. Who would debut as a villain? But to me that's exciting. I don't like being conventional. But I was tried to put into the box so much. That was the first place I was put into. All the movies that came to me was that! In Baywatch, I was been spoken to for another part. My role was written for a man, like I told you last time. The exotic gorgeous pretty girl in amazing clothes is so the fit where people tried to put me. And I hope that doesn't happen to anyone else coming in because that would really ruin all the work I've put in. We need to stand as a force to reckon with. Our industry is one of the most prolific in the world. And we need to not be afraid to stand our ground on our feet and say, I'm not settling."
