Actually his clarification was necessary. They did not showed everything in one movie. but by the question of the reporter it seemed that articles about their separation was going around since eternity. So those articles would have hurt Aarfa more, all the taanas/gossips would have hurt her more.
So Sultan's clarification, maybe bit uncomfortable but cleared all the rumors and gossips.

At the question of are divorces bad...the answer is yes they are but still if the couples comes at a point where their disagreement is so much that they can kill each other...then ya its better to get divorced than to lose ur life...if kids are there in the marriage then they are the ultimate losers of a broken marriage.
