And Ash fans LOVE to use the Dharma/Yash Raj excuse at the same time rejoicing when Karan signed her for a 2 bit role...insecurity? yes indeedy. So tell me, what have Rani, Preity and Kareena achieved after working for Dharma? If Dharma was such a good banner that without its support artist cant thrive then why did those actresses win anything for their won in Karan Johar movies. And the funny thing is same can be said for Ash that a mediocre actress's only saving grace was her work in SLB movies. But then again Deepika and Rani won awards for their performances in SLB's movies so its clear that SLB has the midas touch and not the other way round. And as for Ash refusing "offers" from Dharma/YRF then why has Ash rejected these offers? Other than Dostana why is she such a dialoo that she keeps on giving good movies to other actresses? If Kajol has to be compared to anyone then please compare her to Kareena, someone who can ACTUALLY act and who has made a successful movie after her marriage.

So in a way YES Ash has used the Bachchan tag to keep herself relevant and in the news. If she was married to a Dr. Nene or Boney Kapoor she wouldn't have been plastered across newspapers all the time. Lets not pretend that Ash is not a shrewd player, she ditched Vivek just because she new she wouldn't be able to hang on to his coattails for longer duration of fame but becoming the Bachachan bahu did the trick.

If you think I am insecure so be it, but the reason I used Kajol's name was, she worked in her home production, so yes her husband made movies for her. In Ash's case, I was trying to explain in no way were the rest of the Bachchans involved in helping her career by producing films for her or anything that some other actresses had the privilege of doing. That's all.

And everything else is your opinion, so you can keep it.

Lets be honest, Ash fans ARE insecure of Kajol and try to bring her down every chance they can get.

As far as the home production bit is concerned then ABLC has been bankrupt, how they hell would they produce a movie for her when they wouldn't even produce one for their beta.

But then again

Umaro Jan - JP Dutta with hubby dear (family connections with the director)

Sarkar Raaj - RGV (all Bachchan pariwaar)

Guru - with hubby dear

Ravaan - same director and same hubby dear.

These and the other b-grade movies that she got were not on her own. You guys keep on harping about offers rejected then trust that she has the offers just like DP is considered first for every movie.

Oh and as far as the argument about Abhishek not getting anything out from Bachacahn pariwaar is concerned I can only laugh. A person like Abhishek is still surviving (and getting solo movies again) is only due to his family name. The Bachachan name gave a new life to her sagging career that was nearly at its end. In turn she gave the family a new lease on fame. Had Abhishek married Rani people would not have cared.

So please even if you don't like to believe that the B family and Ash didn't mutually benefit from this arrangement then pleases at least keep others out of your argument. Kripa hogi aapki.

P.S: I know you posted those gifs for effect but I am sorry but they only prove how horrible an actress is Ash. Her eyes are DEAD even though the seem to be filled with glycerin.

jokes apart, didn;t read the opening post - too long for me to read - just replying to title...Aish is relevant without bachhan tag. yes. as I said whoever works in BW for few years are relevant -

Abhishek is a better actor then Aish. If Aish didn't get that overhyped beauty tag she wouldn't have gone anywhere. ( yes to me "most beautiful women of the world" tag given to her is over rated. I find other actreses much more beautiful then her - to me beauty is expressive face and aish doesn;t have it )

I have always disliked Ash for being pretentious and plastic. I find her overrated and am not a fan.

That being said there is no denying that she is a self made woman with her very own powerful identity. The name Aishwariya Rai is a brand name with weight and value well beyond and independent of the post wedding Bacchan tag. To say Ash is irrelevant without the Bacchan tag is ludicrous.

If one has to be a critic, be a smarter one. Don't grasp at straws for the sake of critiquing.
