I doubt it's a secret anymore. And he is a very patriotic Indian IMO. Contributes to armed forces, poor Indian farmers, pays his taxes here. Is-se jyada shuddh Hindustani aur kya hoga?

So that dialogue baazi and cashing in on patriotic image is for PR only?

Foreigners of Indian origin are no less patriotic than their bretheren back home. Dare I say at times they are more patriotic than many others. They reminsce everyday on their life in India. They attend even small community events so they could feel at home. They contribute a lot to foreign exchange and money transfer. They are good ambassadors of Indian people abroad who have assimilated and made the best of both worlds. They yearn to eat desi foods and will patron even hole in the wall restaurants for a taste of home. Mc donalds or KFC isnt cool for them they rather like some butter chicken with tandoori naan. My dad used to involve with the local indian consulate and had done so much community work. He would take time off on 15th august to go to flag hosting ceremony. He and many others would volunteer and take part in events and fund raising for social welfare programs in India. They would also do community events so more caucasians will know about India and its tradition and culture by hosting outside events at public places. The Indian diaspora abroad is a vibrant and passionate community. They do not need validation from anyone to show case their patriotism. They have done a lot more for India than many Indians who bring disrepute and only complain.

I don't know BI ...netas are a different case altogether , they are looting country but they also define patriotism openly daily deciding who is deshbakht and deshdrohi and everyone listens to them .

May be i think too much along this line or may be i am gone past that stage where i can make big decisions just based on monetary gains but i can also claim nationality for UK at any stage if i want too but i have no plan to do it just because of my own emotional connect ...kids already have their British passports and indian OCI ...not saying i am more patriotic than Akshay but that's just my thinking.

@bold they are because they live far away from the country they grew up in. Akshay's case is different because as far as i know he lives in india and has canadian citizenship .

I disagree with the notion that one's citizenship is just a piece of paper. There are some Indians who give up their citizenship and openly declare that such a decision was taken out of love for the other country such as in the case of Fareed Zakaria. Others may renounce Indian citizenship due to socio-economic reasons, while there are many who despite having lived abroad and having accomplished great feats refuse to renounce their citizenship like Zubin Mehta. For Zubin Mehta being Indian is his core identity and he sees it reflected in the passport and in his citizenship.
What is surprising in AK's case is the lack of any socio-economic or professionally driven benefits which would accrue on his taking up Canadian citizenship as he is already rich with a high standard of living and is working in India. Furthermore, he claims to be patriotic...so unless its an even greater love for Canada or tax avoidance ( which in itself is inherently unpatriotic), his decision makes no sense.
