That Ms Sushma Swaraj...just targeted two women without any reason...saying something so disgusting about them about their child bearing capabilities and choices...Something that was totally unprovoked and not required...that the amendments to the Surrogacy laws could have been done without targeting these two women...I don't understand that what kind and how much knowledge is required to CONDEMN the statement of Ms Swaraj??What is wrong is wrong...there are no two ways about it...

exactly! While iam not denying that surrogacy is a boon for many, but many are creating a business out of it...and there have been many cases where the children have been left behind coz its not the gender they wanted or child is abnormal etc. This has both negative and positive aspects!

I prefer adoption rather than surrogacy. So many woman are forced into this, there are many huge rackets involving this. In some, the woman are forced to have sex with the father. It is horrible, very horrible. So I understand the rules. Strict action is a very welcome action IMO, I don't approve total ban but strict, very strict rules and regulations is a must. As lets not forget third world countries always exploit things which involves emotion. Plus as other pointed out, if child is abnormal, it basically gets abandoned. Aside, Sushma Swarag is an idiot, so lets ignore her, concentrate on the more important part of this rule, stopping exploitation of poor woman.

Yes, maybe some poor women are exploited by doctors and surrogacy middlemen who force them to have repeated pregnancies due to greed for money.

Watched an episode of Crime Patrol where such surrogate mothers were kept captive and forced to have babies of rich customers... this entire racket was operated by a crooked doctor and a gang of criminals.

But its also true that many childless couples who have medical problems and the mother cannot carry a live foetus to full term can get the blessings of a child thru surrogacy.

Or a single parent or a gay couple can become parents with help of surrogacy.

Why are they discriminating against single parents and gay couples by making it illegal for them?

Government shd not interfere in these matters, it shd definitely stop criminal exploitation of poor women but not stop the women who willingly become surrogates.

There shd be stricter control of the whole system but it shd not be made illegal for gay or single parents.

Yes, single parents can adopt like Sushmita Sen did...so many girl children are abandoned and left to die, single parents or childless parents can adopt them and give them a loving home and a bright future.

But it shd be the decision of the individuals, their choice to adopt or go for surrogacy, not a forced decree by the government, by making surrogacy illegal.

Foreigners were banned from surrogacy since 4 years now because of many infamous cases but prominently the Japanese couple who divorced and refused to have the baby. Or in 2012 when an Australian couple abandoned the baby because of the gender as they already had one of similar one. In 2013, the law against gay couple taking to surrogacy came because of decriminalising law and other regressive shit ( that is the problem) . So I find this hue and cry now so amusing.

Single parents and live-in relationships are for now put under purview.

A big positive that has come out is , earlier the kid born through this had to be adopted first . But now it is considered legally born to the parents. It's a big step , might not seem to few, but many developed countries doesn't have it.

Against this is a draft , it will undergo zillion amendments by Parliament , Apex Court before it even comes out.

Real challenge is to make this more inclusive , regulation and a swift reform for homosexuals, live-ins .
