To even secure a place in the finals, the vault she had to perform - the Produnova - has the highest difficulty rating in all of gymnastics. It involves a front handspring and two front sommersaults and one misstep can lead to death or complete parlysis.

it is so damn dangerous that few people attempt and plenty folks in the gymnastics community want it banned altogether.

Only 5 people have ever excuted this vault of death

Its been a heartbreaking Olympics for India so far. Not expecting a win Dipa has already done us proud. Now just wish she gives her best and enjoys being centre stage. Its a big day for her. 😊

Dipa is one of the two athletes who are still competing. Rest 3 are retired from competitive gymnastics.

Yes she is 😊 but expecting a podium finish from her is an impossible task given the standard of gymnasts who qualified for the finals. I am just happy that she got to show her mettle and bring accolades to the nation at the highest level.
