The lead star of 'B' is thus cross as he thinks the superstar is promoting 'A' only because he does not want 'B' to succeed.

He has a point there, as this is the first time ever that the superstar is promoting any film of the actor 'A'. Moreover, the superstar and the lead star of 'B' have had some misunderstandings in the past, which perhaps made it easier for the superstar to choose the film of his choice - that is 'A'.
