Now a web film on IPL

Karan Anshuman's new series has Angad Bedi playing MS Dhoni; Vivek Oberoi plays a bookie. Mirror (July 28, 2015) had reported that critic-turned-filmmaker Karan Anshuman was planning a web film titled Khel on the IPL. A year later, it is all set to go on the floors towards the end of August with Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Gulshan Devaiah and Angad Bedi top lining the cast. It is being produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment.


A source associated with the project told Mirror that Vivek plays a guy from a poor family who gets into the betting racket which makes him rich and he goes on to become a team owner. "Richa plays a sports journalist who falls in love with a cricketer. Angad plays a cricketer and his role is loosely modelled on Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Gulshan is another cricketer whose character has shades of grey."

Vivek's spokesperson confirmed that he is part of the film while the others chose not to comment. The series will be shot in Mumbai over a month-long schedule. While cricket is the backdrop, the story deals with relationships and how they change with each game and power play. Inspired by real life characters this one explores the drama behind the scenes during the IPL. Karan, when contacted, refused to divulge details.
