I haven't seen the match she is talking about but it does sound like a highly subjective issue. Yes nipple are normal and both men and women old and young have it all. But the significance has always been on females. I have not created this practice but it is what it is. Could Serena would have worn a better fabric that didn't had to make it so obvious since it was not a fashion show but a sport and could he seen by both minors and adults is again debatable. But nipples are nipple and this isn't just a Indian society issue but a global taboo. If she herself doesn't feel them to be a big deal then why didn't she went shirtless like her husband does for movies?

The gist of my post is I feel like she is just grasping at straws. This isn't a misogynist or sexist issue at all.

If she said girls should be happy with their bodies. Small breast big breasts it's all ok and be comfortable in your skin that will be empowerment. But telling them it is ok to show your nipples and people should stop making it as taboo is not empowerment. Guys also have balls does it mean they should walk around on full display and people shouldn't feel offended since it's a part of a man's body?

When you play sports - comfort and breathable fabrics are important. If it means your nipple outline can be seen in the fabric, so be it.
