The desperate attempt to prove him as an outsider is hilarious. His success will not be any less credible if he is considered an insider.

Him knowing these people gave him an edge.

I think.. sob-story sounds more appealing for some. I love Ranvu. And he is very hard working. But I don't agree that he is a true blue 'outsider'. No he is not. He has had advantages. His talent helped him use that advantage.

Yea. Ahana Deol, Ranveer, Arpita were class mates, weren't they?

And Ranveer isn't a true blue outsider, no denying that. I mean he grew up in a business family that regularly hobnobbed with the filmy people but to say he's an insider wouldn't be accurate either, after all he's not from a filmy family. Plus, going to school with famous people doesn't make you an insider. My cousin was in school with Roman Reigns, doesn't mean she's gonna have an easy time getting started in WWE next.😆

Sanoo Sharma spotted him in a party he was regular in. A true blue outsider would have to go thru so much to get access to such parties. His elite back ground did give him an edge over others. It's still an advantage.

No one is calling him star kid. Being a star kid is not the only criteria for being insider.

For me, all m saying is - his story is not as sobby as some of his fans make out to be. He struggled but still it wasn't so difficult for him. An outsider would be Nawazuddin. Now that's some struggle story.

just what I was thinking.arpita was adopted in the early 90s and she was less than a year old..must be at least 5 years younger to ranveer..maybe they went to the same school not same grade..

That's what I implied. That he's got an advantage over actual outsiders. I am sure Anil Kapoor didn't care about him much since he had to take care of his own kids first. However if you're growing up amongst BW magnates and attending family parties with all the insiders, you're no less than an insider yourself.

I do agree Ranveer did have it easier than someone like Nawaz for his wealth gave him access to where people like Shanoo regularly went. But if that were the case then we would be getting a lot more of his kind in BW. Rich kids who go to these kinds of parties, go to school with actors kids/siblings and get noticed. Don't tell me not one kid with his background like that has ambitions to be a star. Do they become TV stars ? I have no clue about TV actors so IDK.
I would not mind if that were the case, we would get more non-industry people, strange we don't get more of people with Ranveer kind of background. Instead we get a raft of starkids. 🤔. Just don't tell me being Anil Kapoor's wife's cousin's son helped him. There is a guy called Mohit Marwa, Anil Kapoor's real nephew his sister's son. See his career and see the welcome Harsh gets from the industry and the career Sonam has. That is who being Anil Kapoor's relative benefits. His actual kids get his good will amassed in the industry, not any real nephew or nephew cousin.

If he is real insider, wouldn't he get the opportunity to debut with karan johar or slb? why did he have to debut with yrf with a debutant director?

biru debuted with slb, varun n sid with kjo, tushar kapoor with satish kaushik, abhisekh with jp dutta, all well known names!!!

i agree he is not a complete outsider like srk... just because you are in same school doesnt mean ranbir's father or some actor's mother would recommend him for a movie... heck he wasn't even recommended by anil kapoor family with whom he is related to🥱

conclusion- he has every right to play the outsider card with a limit..

O god again this insider outsider talk. 😆 For bollywood the insiders are Starkids or kids from industry so uncle aunty who maybe even know each other from generation to generation when you mention the names half of the industry knows who the father or mother or whatever relative is from the kid who are getting their big break and even Media can start to release a lot of articles about these kids because of the known names before the movie actually releases.
Thats why Ranveer refers him as an outsider. To bring Anil into this game till DDD that man didnt acknowledge him do you think he will hangout with some second cousines of his wife. I dont even like some distant relatives of my how do you know they were close. Maybe only on big occassion they would meet.
RS calls himself oustider because he struggled. Those top directors or producers didnt wait for him till he ends his studies or even way before and told him hey i want to launch you so better come to me. He didnt got the chance to work as an AD with popular Directors.
Saying he knew the casting director of YRF yees he knew her but the funny thing is she actual become the casting director after the success of BBB and he met her when he gate crashed her party an insider doesnt need to gate crash a party. Shanoo done it as a past time job helping her cousin because she was good in networking thats why she become a casting director. Of course the chances are high to be at the same school with starkids if you live in Bandra and which also leads to hang out at the same parties. Still doesnt bring you into the office of top industry people who offer you every script and you have to pick which one you like.
Like every other outsider he had a portfolio and had to audition for movie parts. Do you think any insiders needs to do this? People with connections dont need to audition they will get it anyway or you are so good looking and being in the model business producers will offer you also. The only people till now i heard about auditions were Kangana, Anushka and Ranveer from the current lot and of course all those so called "real outsiders".

Hallelujah, you mean the world isn't black and white and there CAN be a difference between being a star kid & an insider...abd these are both different from outsiders? 😲 😆

Last year he admitted to knowing Zoya Akhtar before he debuted. He said he used to go parties with her..same social circle. He went to star kids' birthday parties as a child as he knew them. Shaad Ali, the YRF director, is his friend...and Shanoo Sharma, whose been called one of the most powerful females in Bolly, he knew before becoming an actor too. Let's ignore the Anil Kapoor family connection (which btw was first revealed by Sonam...I think Ranveer would have happily continued to downplay it if she didn't reveal it..which is completely fine- he wants to use/play up the outsider tag as part of his image). These are people he knew because of his elite background...like star kids know the industry folks because of their background.

Lol it is only Ranveer fans who behave like he got some Z-grade, forgettable debut. 😆 He debuted with one of the most reputed, if not most, banners in the country...at a time when they weren't even really into launching new talent..new male talent anyways. It is more than what most get.

I'm not saying these people handed him a career on a platter ... just that he knew plenty of inside folks...and essentially like you said, let's not compare his struggles with that of people like Nawaz who legit didn't know anyone.
