Great film and I agree, the performances lift it up several notches. Everyone was excellent.

I already knew they were all talented, including Alia. But with this one I think she exceeded my expectations. To be fair yes her role was the best, but it takes the best to pull that role the way she did. I not only felt for her character but I kind of wondered about Mahesh Bhatt and her family watching this. It was a hard watch. I hope she gets a lot of recognition come award time. She most definitely has left the ones of her gen a mile behind in a pile of dust.

Kareena was awesome in the last scene. I don't know how much more I can say without spoiling it. But basically being a doctor she knew exactly what was happening and her face and her eyes, damn!!

I think this spoiler has been discussed many times so I'll go ahead and talk about it.

I basically wondered what it was like watching their daughter/sister/loved one fight off rapists, get addicted, and basically being used as a sex slave. I know they are all filmmakers, and the Bhatts especially don't shy away from discussing realistic tragedies of life. Also the movie stopped short of showing an actual rape scene. But still, it couldn't have been easy watching your pampered beautiful and happy child on screen going through what the character went through.

Well it is only a film after all. And Mahesh Bhatt would be considered a weird person in any part of the world. I don't mean in regards to this film because like I said, just a film, but we've all seen his weird pics. So...
