Aamir Khan's four-day extravaganza for wife Kiran Rao

Updated: Dec 10, 2016 01:22 IST

Hindustan Times

December is a special month for Aamir Khan and it's got nothing to do with his blockbuster track record when it comes to Christmas weekend releases. The actor got married to Kiran Rao on December 28 in 2005, and he has celebrated the occasion in a special manner almost every year since then.

HT has learnt that this year, Aamir will go out of his way to make his wedding anniversary "more special". He has apparently planned a four-day extravaganza at his house in Panchgani with family and close friends.

"Aamir has planned a big party at the same Panchgani house where he married Kiran. On December 28 and 29, they [Aamir and Kiran] will celebrate their anniversary alone, while the guests have been invited on December 29. The celebrations will go on till January 1, including the New Year's Eve party," says a source.

Aamir is looking into and arranging every detail, as he wants to surprise Kiran. "A number of programmes have been lined up for the four days, including a shayari night and an evening dedicated to music. In fact, a few singers will also be invited to be a part of the musical programmes," says the source.

Besides his family " Mansoor Khan (cousin), Imran Khan (nephew), Junaid Khan (son), Ira Khan (daughter) and Azad Rao Khan (son), and others " some of the actor's close friends, such as Rajkumar Hirani, Prasoon Joshi, Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji and his new film's team are also likely to attend the celebrations.

Aamir has a special affinity for his Panchgani house, as he finds it lucky, especially after he got married there. "Aamir loves to travel to the house whenever he finds the time. In fact, it's Aamir and Kiran's favourite hideout whenever they need to get away from Mumbai," says the source. Aamir couldn't be reached for a comment.

The next 2-3 movies better be in the veins of Talaash, DG, Dangal then. PK and 3 Idiots are good but Dhobi Ghat, Talaash are his best work in the past few years. I want him to do more stuff like that. Work with directors that want to do something new, create something different.

The less said about Dhoom 3 the better. Thug is going to be the same, seeing the its the same team (writer, director, producers) that gave us D3. Still can't believe he signed on to this. And he is going to spend about 2 years on this.

An announcement that he will be working with Motwane or Vishal in the near future would make this more bearable.

Thug is a period film so it will take time. But yeah 2 years on that director seriously 🥱...How I wish he had shown interest in Dey.It would have been much more interesting to see that story unfold on big screens.

But Secret Superstar is not his film, no? He will barely be there for 15 minutes tops.

I would like to see him in a dark, intense drama. It's been a long time since he had done movies on those genre...

He should do more movies.

Maybe by small movies he meant Secret Superstar.

Mine too. Vishal Bharadwaj, Vikram Aditya Motwane, Dibakar Baneerjee and Anurag Kashyap (though that seems unlikely)

With Aamir, It would also give the directors an opportunity to make the movie they want. A noir thriller with Baneerjee would be so good.

I agree about dramas, he shines in them. Dhobi Ghat, Earth, Rang De Basanti, Talaash (it leans heavily on drama) are his best works and performances too.

But yeah, this give go for a dark, twisted, complex narrative. Maybe something like Haider, with Bharadwaj.

Most of time and money will be used on filming ridiculous song sequences in Paris or somewhere. Its YRF. And for all the money they spend, they make some of the worst looking movies too.

One of the biggest production house in the industry and they dish out crap after crap. I mean how hard it can be to find a decent screen-writer or a director who knows how to direct. Have you seen the trailer for that Ranveer movie. It shocking that somebody said yes to that.

Agreed on Dey, lets hope that project materializes someday.

It's difficult to find any weaknesses in Aamir: Nitesh Tiwari
LIPIKA VARMA Published : Dec 13, 2016, 1:24 am IST

These stories are impactful, yet not very preachy, giving away this message to parents in remote India through subtle messages.
Director Nitesh Tiwari is currently busy adding finishing touches to the post production of his upcoming release, Dangal, and he's working at breakneck speed. "It's like the baby is ready, but we're very greedy and want to make it look more attractive. We're thus finishing the work of decorating it with the right colour of dress, make up and more," he says with a smile.

In awe of the perfectionist lead of his movie, Aamir Khan, Nitesh confesses he admires him greatly. "It's very difficult to find any weaknesses in Aamir," he says. We interrupt and ask him if the perfectionist can get a tad too involved in the process of making the movie. Pat comes the director's reply, "No. That indeed is his strength. In fact, he takes everything so serious, that the too much involvement' turns out to be for the good of the film. Otherwise, Aamir's a non-interfering guy. He doesn't try to make changes unnecessarily."

Nitesh adds, "I must confess, Aamir has always given ample respect to the writers' penning. This is only because of the experience he has gained after working for so many films. He indeed has all the right strengths required to make a successful film. Undeniably, having worked in innumerable films, he has hoarded all these strengths from his own learning."

Hailing from IIT, did Nitesh's Engineering lessons come in handy while making Dangal? "More than lessons, I think all the pranks and masti from college added to our creativity," he laughs. "Surprisingly, Aamir and my sensibilities match a lot. He liked the very first narration for Dangal. That was shocking for me, and at the same time it made me very happy. While working with him I realised hum dono ek jaise sochte hain (we think alike.) And thus our union proved fruitful."

Women empowerment is another cause that Nitesh feels strongly about. "I'm very sensitive to the cause. Not that I would beat a drum to prove my wish of bringing equality, but through my films I always make a conscious decision to opt for a story that will bring up the cause of the girl child to elucidate my point. Even for Dangal, if I wished I could've taken boys. But I preferred casting girls," he says. "Recently for Kaun Banega Crorepati, we showed a girl child presenting a car to her father. We want people to learn having a progressive mindset. These stories are impactful, yet not very preachy, giving away this message to parents in remote India through subtle messages. Such things will not only bring a change in society but also make us realise the importance of equality among girls and boys," he concludes.

agree...Earth and Raakh r the two of his most dark, intense movies which dealt with hard hitting subjects ...Aamir was absolutely phenomenal in them...Earth's shooting was completed in just 40 days...wish he does two dark, intense movies in 5 years...and wish when such genre movie releases he has another release,a good content commercial movie...

He was close to working with Bharadwaj in Omkara...Langda Tyaagi was first offered to him...hope in the future Vishal directs him...
