Good that Shahid has not kept quiet after multiple times kangy tried to put him down by calling him a flop actor and that she's doing a favor.

The way Kangu is going , soon whole industry will alienate her , she just needs to deliver one flop

But i think the problem is, like Anushka once said even if a heroine has equal saleability to her male costars, she will get paid less in comparison.

and yeah, people should stop saying xyz actress is the hero of the movie. Very misogynistic.

Bold reminds me of Deepika and Ranbir's Tamasha. Deepika was a much bigger star and had greater salseability than Ranbir then and now too yet she was paid way less

I am a girl and what is wrong being a girl. It is us girls who make our gender sound weak and want to be 'like a son of a family' or a hero of a film.

We are better than that. To be of great importance and a person of great wit and smartness, we don't need to be like other sex. I can make my family proud being their daughter as well and a girl can be the important pillar of the movie being a heroine too.

You don't seem to understand that in this day and age some people still think that daughters are lesser than sons in term of value.
It's not surprising that some girls will say I can do what a son could have done for you or more bluntly "I'm the son you never had". These girls aren't putting themselve down but merely saying that they are capable people inspite being of the "weaker sex".
It's Economics more than anything. Once these girl bring in money their family POV change toward most often than not.

Remember that Kangna is from such a family and that she had to fight to have her achievements acknowledged by her father. She might even know better than you what is it to be put down constantly only because she was a girl.

You're lucky that your family seem open-minded but know that not everyone has such a family and that may be why you're thinking this way.

Btw as of now, Kangna is more profitable than Shahid and Saif so it'd understandable if she had been paid more, wouldn't it?

Regardless of what I feel about this Shahid did well here, mostly.
Bollywood as an industry is sexist. Problem is most movies are considered around the male protagonist and a Director most often than not lock his male actor, first. Female actors are after-thoughts, hence the lobbying .That is a bigger problem than pay difference.

Problem is when a Shraddha with all her hits might might earn less than what an male "flop/average" actor would be pulling in. Kat-Imran Khan pay difference during MBKD . This won't go till there is genuine respect for actresses and there are substantial roles not just flower pot array. We might appreciate the female centric movies but they are still fewer in number.

It's same with HW just the ratio varies and our industry seems overtly crass too.

That is the kind of a POV we must change, instead of becoming 'who' what other people or even family of some of the people believe. Why not say 'I am my family's daughter and I didn't need to be somebody else to make my family proud'. Did kangana had to change her gender to become financially stable? She did it irrespective of what people believe abt woman and now, its time for her to just show that she achieved what she wanted without being anyone else. She doesn't need to be hero or son to prove herself and thts my point. Why giving so much preference to male gender yourself that you need to say I am like a hero or a son? My family is open minded, but my relatives are not and so, I don't keep going to them and tell that 'I am son of my family'. I can do it without getting the tag of being like any male person.
I am proud of who I am and I don't need to put my gender down and want to metaphorically say I am like a son or a hero or mardani. Just my view and I hope girls of all culture or situation understands this. It is high time people understand wht feminism is, what self-respect is and what respecting yourself and your gender is 😊 . When you say you are like a son or a hero, you are automatically respecting your gender, because for you being a hero or a son is better than being a daughter or a heroine. You can say I am damn awesome heroine and daughter that I over-shine everybody

PS- I am fine Kangana being paid more than shahid and saif. Why would I mind that? But, when she said I m like a 3rd hero of a movie, she put every other down saying coz I am like a 3rd hero of the movie thats why I paid more than other 2s. She can say wow I am the only heroine of the movie and is given more compared to guys😆 I would love to hear that

It will also depend on face time as well wouldn't it.

Even if the two main leads has equal saleability the one who shoots the most scenes will get paid more for their time.

I don't think it's disrepecting toward women to use such words in a country such as India where women are still fighting to be acknowledged.
There is still places were people kill baby girls because of their sex so if putting it simply so that they'd understand that a girl's life is as important than a boy's so be it. It's an ongoing process and the aim is that everyone understands that a woman is no less than a man.

Also "hero" can be a neutral if I'm not wrong and mean character so really it might be a lot of noise for little.

This problem can only be solved if there is more female director , writers , technicians , producers and audience.
