From the past few days, Udta Punjab has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The film, which is about the drug abuse that transpires in Punjab, has run into a roadblock with the Central Board of Film Certification. The film had applied for certification as any movie does before releasing and initially the board had suggested 40 cuts to receive an A certificate. The makers took their film to the revising committee, but it seems that this has backfired as now the CBFC has ordered 89 cuts along with the word Punjab to be dropped from the title.
This hasn't gone down well with the makers of the film and other film-makers too. And so, in a last ditch effort the producer of Udta Punjab - Anurag Kashyap has now urged our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the matter. But his tweet to the PM was rather intriguing. He wrote, "@narendramodi UDTA Punjab"
We revealed to you EXCLUSIVELY how the makers may delay the film to release the movie with minimum cuts. If you remember, Anurag Kashyap had said that even a single cut would take away the essence of the film. And after the protests and the 89 suggested cuts, Anurag ranted on twitter as he said, "There is no film more honest than UDTA PUNJAB .. And any person or party opposing it is actually GUILTY of promoting drugs"

I request Congress, AAP and other political parties to stay out of my battle. It's my Rights vs the Censorship. I speak only on my behalf
It's my fight Vs a dictatorial man sitting there operating like an oligarch in his constituency of censor board, that's my North Korea
