I myself have read a lot about this case and because Sarabjit was not proven guilty I would not consider him a terrorist. The way his story ended is truly sad. If he was an agent why cudnt they prove it.
As far as i rem Sananullah's murder happened after the news of Sarabjit's death came out..it was a reaction...no doubt it was wrong but look at the complete story of both you can't compare their cases.

Any biopic should be taken with a grain of salt. Despite all attempts at objectivism it only portrays one perspective of the story.

Whether he was a spy or not is something we may never know. There will be two perspectives on it. However, as Ponymo said - the key issue is "fair trial". A fair trial is the hallmark of democracy. Even terrorists are guaranteed fair trials.

Bridge of Spies was a really good movie that dealt with fair trials and spies.

That being said Indian films do have a tendency towards jingoism. I hope they don't.

Yep. Really good movie. Throughouly enjoyed. That is my exact point here. I feel the same the way they potrayed Dawood in D-Day as some misunderstood soul. Misunderstood my ass. Obviously what happened to these two be it Sarabjit and Sanaullah and lets not kid ourself both were killed it was not just some random act of sudden violence by other prisoners.Nobody really gives a shit about any of their spies they are first to throw them and wipe off hands. There are many Indian spies who were caught in pakistan, who after being freed from pakistan have no future in India. They never received any commendation, support or any kind of help from the government. It is the same for the other side. They all operate on plausible deniability. But I feel if there is any contention then people like these should be left alone so that they are not shown as a Hero when nobody really knows the full fact. If he indeed was a spy, and guilty of Faisalabad blasts and innocent blood was shed then it doesnt matter to me if he was indian or pakistani.

Depends who you ask. One deems him involved in faisalabad blasts, he was on record for admitting being a spy. Espionage is a punishable offence be it India or Pakistan.

-- India says he was not
-- Pakistan says he was.
- Internet says both when you read the neutral sources.

Too much confusion. I could not for sure say either way.

Why they are dragged ? I should not get into that debate here

Bheem you are innocent if you think only one country is guilty of any said offences and other is not. When you take a step back it doesnt take much to know that such operations are done by both intelligence agences. Heck even the CIA, Mossad, KGB are ALL guilty of this. That is just how they operate. You may see this as US vs THEM issue. For me I see it as them against humanity irrespective of borders, or nations or whose blood is shed.

What happened to Sanaullah, if what you said is true, is also unjust and unacceptable. It's not about nationality for me anymore.. both Sarbjit and Sanaullah are human beings first and I see them that way. If they were guilty of any crime, there are laws, courts, trials etc.. and there is a process to be followed and they should be. Just murdering them or even assaulting them before the judgment is delivered is highly reprehensible, whether it happens in India or Pakistan or elsewhere.

Absolutely. But this happens on both sides. Last year Pakistan hung so many people against their fight for terrorism. Some may be innocent and I feel bad for it but still it needed to be done; it was something that should have happened a long time ago. Nobody just goes around and picks a fight and kills somebody. Both Sarabjit and Sanaullah were alleged spies, and killed due to politics. But if they decide to make a movie on Sanaullah I still cannot support it.

George Washington is the father of nation to the Americans but he was a terorist to the Britishers.
Bhagat Singh was a patriot for Indians but to them he was a terrorist who bombed and murdered.
I could say the same about Mao, Stalin, Che, OBL. But if Pakistan tries to make a movie on Lakhvi, or Dawood or any Masood Azhar and glorify him will we Indians be ok with it? I dont think so, and rightly.

This is always the case with history and depends on who you ask. It is always open to interpretation.

I don't think they will glorify anyone in the movie but instead show the struggle of his family to bring him back plus will show India & Pakistan people aren't different its just the thinking though I must say trailer of the movie gives goosebumps n Ash n randeep have nailed it performance wise

Some of you guys think he was never tried for a trial or proven guilty or innocent. This isnt the case. Sarabjit Singh was convicted of terrorism and spying by a Pakistani court. He was convicted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan for a series of bomb attacks in Lahore and Faisalabad that killed 14 innocents in 1990.
When Sarabjit was caught by the Pakistani Rangers his location at the time of arrest was Faisalabad as per the First Information Report. Yes, we do not have a reason to rule out that this fact was fabricated by the Pakistani authorities. But the very first FIR that was presented before the Magistrate states that he was indeed arrested in Faisalabad itself. Is there a possibility that things were planned so swiftly? Just within 24 hours of arrest?

After receiving Sarabjit's information, of him facing trial in a blast case how could the sister of a simple farmer raise the much needed five lac rupees as fees for one of the best defense attorneys in Pakistan when on one hand they were portrayed to be very poor. Can we rule out the possibility that the Indian Government actually gave her (Dalbir) that amount so as to get their agent back? This is quite possible.

It is very simple. Pakistan says he was a terrorist who was involved in a blast killing 14 people and admitted being a spy. India says otherwise. Depending on how you see it he is either innocent or not. There was a lot of contention with Afzal Guru yet he was hanged. Because we believed the Indian version and didnt buy that he was that all innocent. We bought the version because the courts have deemed him guilty. So if we go by the courts Sarabjit too was found guilty and convincted for death.

It is very simple. We either believe or we dont believe. But if we believe the courts, then we should also upheld soverginity of other courts and believe in their law. What we cannot do is pick and chose and have two standards about anything. If somebody engages in terrorism in any city in India and Pakistan decides to make a movie about him by glorifying him. I would still be irate.
