No idea about Fawad since I have never followed his journey that well.
SRK was very popular due to his TV shows. Getting movies was the obvious next step, especially since TV was a respected medium in those days, many veterans of television also did TV at that time. Long story cut short, his talent, good choices and overall personality clicked with the audience, plus he gelled well in BW.
About SSR, the rumours about Ekta-Ankita-SSR basically started out as speculations bcos people couldn't fish out any other reason as to why he was getting films, and later, being told repeatedly over a period of time, they turned to full fledged rumours. It's actually not that simple.
Sushant actually figured out very early that to succeed, you need not only talent but also good networking skills and PR. Even while doing TV, he had a PR Brand N Buzz managing him. After leaving TV, he joined Talent Mantra (not a very big PR/Talent management firm, just ok ok) headed by Shobha Sant. This is around 2011-2012. She was instrumental in introducing him to Mukesh Chabra- come to think of it, with his ready made fame, talent, and good personality/media managing skills, he was a promising newcomer by everyone's standards at least for small budget films. Good script sense and good equations with Ekta (thanks to Ankita who continued to work in that show playing a mother) also paid off. Rather than take up films with the likes of vikram bhatt (yes he had almost signed one), he auditioned around and waited for the right opportunities, making contacts and agreeing to do even small roles in films like PK knowing the buzz it cud give. All this caught YRF eye.
Sushant quit Talent Mantra around late 2012 i guess, but the good equations with Shobha Sant continued. She too continued to progress and was eventually appointed CEO of bhansali productions (she still is) That is the reason Sushant was able to network with bhansali too, there's a pic of him with bhansali in his office dating to 2012 July as far as I remember when they met to discuss some project (no idea what the role was or for which film)
