This has been asked by many since the 90s. As some here mentioned I think good PR may be one of the reasons... May be she was a great model...

She was introduced by Maniratnam and she always got offers from the best directors, banners and great roles... Few actors have such luck

Yet she couldn't improve despite trying so hard... And working so hard according to her supporters

For the world she is one of the most beautiful woman and being an indian actress is a plus. Most of the western people couldnt believe that she is indian. I know a lot of people who know her but none of them cant really name a movie of hers the only one is maybe Devdas and that HW movie she did. She is known for her beauty and her team done a good job in presenting her in that way. That woman doesnt need to do a movie she just needs to show up a cannes and thats it. No one will ever forget her and she will be one of the names which will pop up if you talk about India.

Devdas? She didn't act well? :/ I didn't just cry throughout the whole movie because of SRK only. I can't imagine any actress carrying off the last scene of that movie the way she did. She's also absolutely freaking gorgeous and is one of the best dancers in Bollywood.
