From a Punjabi in Vicky Donor, to a Varanasi local in this the transition has been amazing!

THIS song is the death for me!! So underrated but the guitar music & his voice so beautiful ! Mar jaayiyan & miti di khusboo is pretty amazing too - he has got a very clear voice, doesn't mumble too much like the others ! I can't word it properly, but let's just say his voice is very consistent 😆

Sadi galli is another beautiful gem! Man I'm going to listen to all these songs today ❤️

@roger- Vishal Dadlani is another underrated gem in the industry! Most of his albums have been my absolute fav - Anjana Anjani, Dostana, Kahaani to name a few. He is an amazing singer too! He just doesn't get enough credit due to over exposure of Ankit & Arjit- Most of the people don't even know he sings songs, and most of his songs have been hit numbers!

I'm so glad that there are others who felt the same way. I completely agree with Patronus..from a Punjabi to UPite...he nailed the transition and how. Not even a single thing about his performance looked flawed to me. His body language was so perfect. I'm amazed that despite this movie receiving so many accolades, the appreciation for his performance has been so damn limited. And how gorgeously does he shift between scenes. He was amazing in VD too, but that was more of his forte..as in the background and everything.

OKAY I've been waiting for a DLKH appreciation thread for so long so I'm going to post my review again! It's long 😆

What a beatiful beautiful film! Overrated love stories like DDLJ are termed as classics, when this love story is so much better than a DDLJ!

Beautiful characterisation, and growth of characters! After Queen, if somebody has shown the growth of character well it is DLKH! And like Queen, it has shown the Desi-pan so well. The mindsets, the accents, the characterisation is SO Indian! India doesn't have always the torturing, backward in-laws. Of course there are the typical 'taunts' sometimes but they fit well! LOL

Each and every character is etched so well & all the actors perform them to the 'T'. Good of YRF to not opt for the A listers to make the film a hit, this is one of the best casting I've seen in recent times! All of them live the characters!

The story moves gradually- peppered with humour always! Sandhya was such an amazing character - she just has so much of self worth its amazing! Even her body doesn't hamper confidence- she doesn't undermine herself ever. Usually in most movies, when the girl is more educated they show her as this arrogant, ulta jawaab Deni waali 'modern' woman! The best thing about Sandhya was, she was still desi- her modernity was in her thoughts than her demeanour. She was still closer to her roots, modern in her decisions! Which is very realistic...

It was also amazing to see for once- they focussed more on the guy being insecure over education than the girl being over her weight issues! They came around all of it in the end, and I was rooting for them with a big smile on the face - when she said she doesn't want to go Heart But she accepts him when he accepts her fully, without any compulsions and insecurities- it was done up beautifully!

The supporting cast was amazing! I kept ROFLing over Sanjay Mishra's and Ayushman together! The mother's 'Tu bhaagego' is going to make me laugh for a long time. Loved how the bua get a closure too, and she doesn't let her dislike for Sandhya stay! Sandhya's brother and mom were hilarious too specially in scenes with the lawyer!

Loved how Sandhya didn't even back down to her parent's terms! It was also refreshing to see that they didn't try emotional drama on her too to get back to her sasural.

Ayushman was so amazing with the accent, and the mannerism! This guy has such a good dialouge delivery Clap Everything was so spot on- he needed to be nominated for Best Actor.

I'm going to get killed for this- but he was at par with AB Sr in Piku Stern Smile

Bhumi was brilliant too! Definately in the top 3 debuts of all time for me! She gave so much grace to Sandhya despite the 'bulky' body, looking so comfortable in her own skin. You don't find her awkward ever!

That's all it's too big of an essay anyways! LOL

The only flaw of the movie was having a hard time to understand the accent sometimes!

Beautiful review. I completely agree about Sanjay Misra and Ayushmann scenes. Especially that part where his mommy receives the divorce papers and faints, Sanjay is like..Tu yaha let kyun gayi..Papa leti nahi hai gir gayi hai 🤣

Yes, Sandhya's character was well-written and Bhumi was fabulous..The entire cast was terrific, tbh. Not even a single person looked out of the place..everybody looked the part and perfectly fit in the movie. I loved the movie. It was so beautiful. 😳

He was BRILLIANT in the Movie...
The way he caught on with the Dialect and just so Effortless and so Natural...
I think saw Ayushman...It was Prem all the way...

And then the Bady Language and Mannerism...
esp in scenes with his Father...Sudhir Mishra...Hahha..Pitch Perfect..!!

I never liked Ayushmann Khurrana from the beginning. It is because of John Abraham he had a career from that fluke movie Vicky Donor in 2012....
