Why should Khans have opinions on everything? They are not religious scholars or humanity professors. If they want, they will state voluntarily. Why should one drag them?
Let her ask all JNU guys who burnt Manusmriti and all those intellectuals who returned their award for intolerant India. Barkha is a must. (She was supposed to be hosting "Women in Islam" conference and there she speaks about how women are not allowed in some Hindu temples).
Right now Haji Ali. Next it might be Jama Masjid, Delhi. I have read, women cannot enter minaret on their own (without men) and also they are not allowed to enter the mosque after certain time (prayer). She should break that rule too.
After she breaks all the rules, what will she do? Will she ever go and pray there? No.
So why did she do it? Is it really out of devotion or publicity gimmick? (I might be taking a controversial stand. So what? Everyone has the right to opine).
Either you have faith or you don't. If you have faith, you will follow the cultural practices. (They were all made at some era with certain believes. Like the practice in Jama Masjid. It might have started with a belief, women might not be safe in evening. Some believes might not hold relevance in today's era. Like Ayyappa was born from two male Gods. But all have their own charm, inspite of their irrationality).
If you don't have faith, you don't go there anyway.
Why mix up worship (and cultural practices) with human right? On festive day, my mother put Rangoli in front of the house. My father did pooja. I did not bother, why not the other way. Now, no Rangoli or Puja in the house. A liberated family? No. We are one of those people who are just immersed in mechanical world, with no room for such small charms.
Genuine problems of Hindu or Muslim women are different. Islamic laws for divorced Muslim women need change. Such things won't get solved by this token demonstration.
