the president or the white house don't send out the invitations - they merely attend the event. the WHCA (i.e. the press) is who organizes the event and sends out the invitations. so as madhuridixit mentioned, the dinner is neither organized by the white house nor is it at the white house and there are hundreds of people who attend it, so don't read more significance into it.

omg. literally every question you're asking i answered in my original comment. The white house doesnt invite anyone to the correspondents dinner, they give tables to media outlets who fill them with whoever they want.
