I am not shifting to Mumbai: Fawad Khan

After a successful debut in Khoobsurat, Pakistani sensation Fawad Khan is ready with his second film Kapoor & Sons. Even as his list of fans gets longer as we speak, the actor says he has no intention of making India his home " he's fine shuttling across borders whenever work demands. The busy actor took some time to talk to us about his new film, his future plans and more. Excerpts from an interview:

There is some speculation about your character in Kapoor & Sons being gay...
The film is neither about sexuality nor is it a love triangle. It is about the journey of a family, the bond among them and the strangers they meet.

Tell us a little about your character.
I am playing Rahul, who is an aspiring writer. Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak play my parents. Rahul is someone who wants to do everything perfectly and prove his worth to the family.

Kapoor & Sons is being compared to Dil Dhadakne Do. Your thoughts?
I have no clue on this since I haven't seen Dil Dhadakne Do yet. I can only react once I have seen the film.

Bollywood is synonymous with its camps and now you are being termed as the Dharma boy. How do you feel?
I don't think on those lines at all. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms. I have done films only because my roles were good in them. It has got nothing to do with being associated with any particular camp.

We heard you had some visa issues recently while promoting your film...
There was no issue in it. I got a visa to promote Kapoor & Sons in India. I don't know why people make it a talking point.

Is it true that you are doing a cameo in Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil?
Well, it is not a cameo. It has a lot more to it. I play a Pakistani DJ in the film. I can't reveal more than this.

Do you have plans of shifting base to Mumbai now that you are working on more Bollywood projects?
No. I am not shifting. I have my family back there and it is difficult to bring them all here and settle. I will travel across borders for shoots.

Have you signed Battle of Bittora?
I have read the final draft of the film and I found it very interesting. I haven't signed it yet but want to do it. Since Anil Kapoor is busy with 24, it is taking a little time to execute.

Will you continue doing TV shows on Pakistani television?
I am not doing any television shows for now. I am working on two Pakistani films though.

What do you have to say about Indian films getting banned in Pakistan, considering there have been a few examples in the recent past itself?
I am not educated enough to comment on such controversies. It could have something to do with the censor issues in Pakistan.

I don't think there would be a specific cause for that and I am not defending anyone here either. I myself would like to see more films like Neerja.
