Thank you for saying this. He has been my favorite actor ever and I have been literally watching others save his movies for me because he was just not present. In Dilwale, after years I saw some spark. I miss the old actor. It was what made me fall for him, his acting even in bad films. I wish we would see the actor again but i doubt we will.
He lies deep under the producer and I sort of get it because SRK is a global business now. Unlike Amitabh or Rishi who reinvented themselves for a better career I would argue in their later years, SRK may not. He is a producer first now. What he has achieved in terms of personal fortune and building an empire from scratch has consumed a lot out of him I am afraid and the price he paid was swallow the actor. I don't think unless he digs deeper than deep we will ever see the excellent actor he once was.

I think we're all being way too melodramatic about Dilwale and what it means when it comes to SRK. Firstly, let me just say that I'm not fond of any of SRK's movies post CDI, with most of them being horrible..but, Dilwale in my honest opinion is not as bad as some are making it out to be. So, I say this without any bias. It's certainly better than some of the other movies SRK has done recently...and I say that more so because SRK was actually good in Dilwale. At least I felt that. Sure, the movie isn't great but there have been far worse movies out there that don't even get half of the criticism that Dilwale has received. Secondly, a clash between two major films will always have one doing better than the other, regardless. Dilwale and BM both got affected because of the clash. I actually feel BM ended up doing more business because of the bad WOM that Dilwale received. I think people expecting Dilwale to do 300 cr + business despite a clash was always unrealistic anyway.

Also, if content is so important to people...then why is Dilwale "underperforming" such a huge issue? On one end, we're claiming that SRK needs to take up better content and on the other hand we're crying that Dilwale's business indicates SRK is finished ...and the world is coming to an end. Let's make up our minds.

In the end, I rather see SRK do work where he utilizes his talent and potential as an actor. BO numbers are all really fickle. Who really will talk about Dhoom 3 or half of these Salman Khan films years down the line as the best movies to come out of Bollywood? yeah exactly, no one will.

@Curlylocks, I said it is the downfall of the superstar, not the actor in SRK as he has acting-oriented films coming up 😊

@Lafunga bro, no doubt the SRK bashing does emotionally impact SRK fans like me, but the saddest part is that this time I feel the bashing was warranted as I did not enjoy him in Dilwale. Raees will do great for him in terms of appreciation/awards, but I don't see it being a big box office success as it will be clashing with Sultan which may do better than Raees at the box office.

@PAcino, I truly feel that it is only a matter of time before Ranveer Singh gets the superstar tag, because after Bajirao Mastani's huge success, his next film is with Aditya Chopra! Also, with BM looking to finish in the 170-180 crore range, he will join the club of the few actors so far who have collections in that range or even higher (Aamir, Salman, SRK, Hritikh, Ranbir). Ranbir is having a terrible run at the box office currently, so Ranveer easily can replace Ranbir there in the top 5 after the three Khans and Hritikh.

@Briahna, you mention that Raees could be a "been there done that type", and I can understand that point, as the film carries a similar vibe to the Don series, especially his dialogue at the end of the trailer "Aa raha hoon"

@Rhino2close2car, I understand your point bro, but we must also realize that at the time, Salman was around 41 years old (when SEI released) and no one complained about his aging looks. He still had the looks and physique to enter his masala action genre of films in the later years. In 2016, SRK is 50 years old, and many people are quite aware of his aging looks. His main image as a star has been that of a romantic hero, which at the age of 50, is not going to work anymore!

@rogerrocks, honestly it hasn't just been one under performing film for SRK at the box office! It has been a series of them since 2010, and the approx 150 crore lifetime finish that Dilwale is looking at is pathetic for his stardom!

@starstruckk, Dilwale's underperformance at the box office is an issue for SRK's reduced box office power in current time, but the content based films will bring him appreciation and awards!

People said the same before SRk's Chennai beat Aamir's 3 Idiots. He'll be back. No doubt.

Give him a solo release on either eid or christmas and he will surely break all records. He has already proved it with chennai express. He's actually not as lucky with release dates as salman and aamir. Most records have been broken with these two release periods.

Fr I said Dilwale would be HNY part 2 and it happened lmao
And now I have a feeling that Raees will be Don part 3

Everything about the trailer screams Don (which isn't a bad thing, since I like Don, but Don 2 wasn't good at all imo)

I think Fan is gonna be better than Raees

So basically it has been proven that these " superstars " do need a solo release on Festival Holidays to prove their stardom 😉😆
