BM's main job is not in the opening number but how they are sustaining for next 2-3 weeks as screen count is supposedly much lower than Dilwale.
Also there are too many controversies right now...Low key promotion had actually done wonders for films like 3Idiots and PK or Piku in recent time.. Once the movie is released if its getting good response then the actual promotion will start

I personally feel trailer has done its job and there are many people who are eagerly waiting for the release. Twitter or social media buzz is not everything. Going by twitter buzz PRDP was supposed to break all records..
Every tv channel and print news paper is carrying BM story everyday. Even the best selling regional paper is my area is carrying a news of BM/Dilwale clash today. So I dont think buzz is not there

Buzz of Dilwale is greater than BM in all regions except Maharashtra..Google trends clearly show it

But it doesnt matter as WOM is very important.Prominent critics like Rajeev,Anupama hate RS movies & waiting with bated breath to trash Dilwale to pieces. They maybe even harsher than PRDP times, just to support the so called underdogs. This may hamper Dilwale's chances in long run as nowadays viewers, especially multiplex audience do get swayed by critic reviews.Ofcourse there is the other wretched grp spreading messages thru Whatsup,FB,twitter to boycott SRK movies as he is anti nationalist🤢.I have faith in hardwork of Dilwale's cast and crew though.

IMO buzz for both BM and dilwale has decreased closer to the release date..they have gone wrong in promotions. still dilwale is heard about more than BM.
example of excellent promotions is PRDP..its hype kept on rising day by day..do many dubdmashes, Lovely interviews, all actors praising their role and the movie..it recovered all the cost in first few days..people werent even ready to blindly believe the reviews..all the promotion worked.
I dont c such buzz even for Dilwale inspite of a big star like SRK..BM has zero buzz

i guess people did believe the reviews especially after they watched it for themselves

but i beg to differ..just praising your movie and your performances is not a good way to promote since no one is naive enough to believe all that..it actually led to disappointment in PRDP's case..i mean to compare sonam with madhuri..for crying out loud

dilwale has done a fair job with promotions i believe..

U know to be honest, there are a decent handful of people around me talking about both the films, whats surprising is how BM has achieved itself to be a worthy contender to a film that has so many advantages, from srk to srkajol reunion and varun the so called new age superstar and so on.. The way I see it, hats off to BM team, for being able to match up and be a worthy contender.. 👍🏼

ya they believed..but only after watching the movie..so they gained that initial collection. Disappointment is bound yo happen since it was praised so much by the actors but was nowhere lose to being a masterpiece..but if they told things differently it would have been unprofessional..
And somewhere they knew it wont survive on WOM..so opening mattered a lot.
About sonam and madhuri..y does everyone choose not to listen ? In the very next line he confirmed that it's a joke.

dilwale has done a fair job with promotions i believe..

And I don't c the buzz for dilwale

we do know buzz doesn't mean the movie will be a big hit, take TWM for example, nobody really knew about the promotions going on for it and it had quite a low opening number, but with good WOM is had an incredible run at the box office
another one is piku, they only promoted a week before release, it had a low opening day number but with fantastic WOM is did very well

Then u hav movies like tamasha, it was promoted aggressively for over 3 weeks, everyone knew about the film, but it did not do as well as people were expecting it to do

Also prdp may be a hit, but it isn't the blockbuster everyone was expecting it to be, and it was promoted a lot

I think BM is doing well in terms of buzz at the moment, nearly everyone knows about the film and many r also excited, i hav no idea how well it will do at the BO, for a film like BM it has to sustain at the box office and get gud WOM

To be fair, PRDP did 400cr worldwide. The fact that it isn't termed as a blockbuster is because of the huge budget. Also BM has got quite a budget too so it might do well but be a flop or an average grosser.

Add Shandar to your list
Heavily promoted but turned out to be damp squib

Another one is BB..Most people didn't thought its going to do such huge business
