Sweety is a boring person, that's why I become Anushka for my fans: Anushka Shetty

Not many actors in India boast of having over a crore followers online. But what makes mana Anushka's fan page standout is not the over 1.1crore following " 10,472,320 on Facebook and 58,2000 on Twitter " but the fact that she isn't even online! "Social media is not for me," she says nonchalantly. But that's not because she is a recluse.

"I am a people's person. But I want to keep all the socialising in the real world. I can't fathom having a Twitter handle and writing something as inane as a "Hi" and go to bed, you know! (laughs). If I am on social media, then I would want to connect properly with people and I don't think I can do that yet," elaborates the actress, who lets her fans run her official page.
She had just one condition though. "Hemchand, a well-wisher, came up with the idea of creating one stop destination to get all news about me. And all I told them was that I want only positive things about everything and everyone mentioned in the pages," she recalls.
The fact that she lands roles written with her in mind and enjoys a one-crore strong online fan club sets her on par with the kind of honours that only T'town heroes enjoy. Tell Anushka that, and she just smiles.
When not acting she prefers being the simple Tulu girl, Sweety (her real name), an intriguing alter ego of the movie star Anushka. "Sweety is a boring person. Nothing exciting has happened in my life over the last ten years that I have been an actress, besides the work. This is why you see me, that is Anushka, coming out only during promotions. Anushka is what I become for my audiences," she quips. "Genuinely, I don't want people to know who Sweety is. Sweety is only for my family and friends," she signs off.
