Basically Ph se Phantom directors shd realize a few things:

Desi audiences are not ready for OTT quirky comedies.

Any movie with Pankaj Kapoor is going to flop. Was watching Matru ki Bijli ka Mandola last night and it was so horrible, could not believe Vishal Bhardwaj made it.

Destination weddings, foreign locations dont always work if there is no story. People cannot identify with industrialists spending millions on kids weddings or on world cruises when their business is failing.

This is called self-indulgent film-making. They spend crores to make movies which dont connect with common people. Who cares abt history of Mumbai made in sepia color in the style of Hollywood film noire?
Basically Phantom guys shd stick to low budget art movies, if they get too much money in their hands they make a mess out of it.

This movie proves that it was Kangana who lifted Queen into something extraordinary with her performance! Vikas Behl is not a genius.

it was indeed that bad lol.

it's not even about connecting with the common man, it's about having a decent story to tell.

God knows what story they had in Shandaar... issues faced by orphans, fat-shaming, getting high, making fun of the wealthy in a pretty non-witty manner

it wasn't an OTT quirky comedy either really, it was just a shambles.

I think people in bollywood give so much bhav to people like Imtaiz Ali, Vikas Bhal, Kashyap. They make one great film and all of a sudden they are the greatest. They aren't consistent.

Their films hardly have any creativity - visually, storyline are flat. eh. I guess its just like that in bollywood everywhere.

Dharma - the production house and Vikas Bhal a newbie is what made them attract to the film not the meat of the storyline... well there is no meat in the storyline.

Regardless of the movie potential, I will say this.

Many people in BW were envious of Phantom's glorious run with Queen (BO, critics, awards). Being a boutique production house, no one expected them to be so successful this quick.

Everyone wanted their "commercial" big ticket to fail. It's unfortunate that the movies lacked substance but are they the worst of cinema?? Heck NO!!!!

Phantoms, go back to your basics and regain the glory. You can do it. All the best!
