Irrfan- EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT

I would rate this movie a 5/5 and this could be my favorite movie of the year only if it was a fictional story.

Alas,it isn't and here comes the disappointment. (SPOILERS below)

Unlike what they said, the film is so biased towards the Talwars, bent on making the audience sympathize with the parents. Why was Irrfan cast as the officer supporting the parents and not the other party? Why was Irrfan's character and situations written as if he is this honest officer being a victim to office politics? Why wasn't someone equally known and competent like Irrfan chosen to play the role of the officer supporting the employees of the Talwars? Even though they show Irrfan's negative side by pressurizing a guy to become a Government witness, they smartly make that negative side of his vanish by immediately showing how he has been a victim of office politics. Time and again, from the start, it is clearly visible that the film is leaning towards the innocence of the parents, which I feel isn't fair for a case like this which has reached a dead end with suspicion till in the minds of everyone who has followed the case from start.

But except that bit, the other aspects of the film are brilliant, especially the final CBI meeting of the two teams. How could all the actors be so damn natural? That whole conversation of Shruti and Kempal's sex position was ridiculous but totally understandable...that's how everyone had been discussing Aarushi and Hemraj during the murders. I also loved the dry jokes in the film, especially Konkona's 'Chalo ab rona shuru karna hai'. The parts that involved the murder of Shruti were really difficult to watch, especially for people who had been following the case regularly since 2008, and the resemblance of Shruti's dead body with Aarushi's made it all the more difficult.

8 years, no one still knows what happened that night. The parents are in jail, the case is closed, the parents r the other party can be equally innocent but thanks to the chutiyapa of the police in the initial investigation stage, Aarushi will never get justice. I still liked the way they ended the story like it happened in real.

This has got to be the only movie after Kahaani to have such a tight and crisp script and screenplay. Would have given a 5 but only due to the Talvar angle, giving it a 3/5.

The last line in the film about how Aarushi would be 22 years old but she wasn't allowed to be even 15 makes the whole case so heartbreaking because at the end of the day it was Aarushi who was called characterless, with fake mms of hers being telecast by disgusting news channels like India TV.

Agree with the above review totally ..a film made excellently but falters only because it is heavily loaded in support of the Talvars. I too thought the same ...Irfan as Ashvini Kumar and an lesser known actor as his replacement would brainwash the spectators to sympathise with the parents.

Hear the case was going to re-open ..is this an exercise to get sympathy for the parents? If so they will succeed to a great extent as public memory is short and most would have forgotten the details of investigation by now.

Best movie of the year . Despite the humor beneath it is terrible to know all these actually happened . The office politics, impatient media and irresponsibility of police in our country all are shown brilliantly . Justice in India is a joke..Irfaan and Konkona are first rate .Don't miss this one at any cost

Talvar had a decent weekend with a good trend. The film grew very well on Saturday after a national holiday and followed up with 20-25% growth on Sunday. The business of the film till date is as follows.

Thursday - 50,00,000 (paid previews)

Friday - 2,50,00,000

Saturday - 2,75,00,000

Sunday - 3,50,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 9,25,00,000

The film now has to hold well on Monday and then stay in a similar range on the weekdays which will set it up for a decent run in the theatres.

Talvar First Film To Show Growth After National Holiday

Talvar did well on day two managing to show growth despite coming of a major holiday and this is probably the first time it has ever happened. Normally even the most smallest releases sees a drop.. In real terms, its growth of 60-65% as day one would have been 1.75 crore nett apprx without the holiday. The business of the film till date is as follows.

Thursday - 50,00,000 (paid previews)

Friday - 2,50,00,000

Saturday - 2,75,00,000

TOTAL - 5,75,00,000

The Monday business and weekday hold will tell where film is going. If the weekdays hold at a good level the film can have a good run for a few weeks.

A well made and gripping film ..if it was not based on a real life incident would have appreciated it more as here we can see a definite effort to sympathise with the parents who have been convicted .

May be injustice is being done to domestic servants ...not all of them are criminals and in the Talwar case on which the movie is based they were released as no evidence could be collected against them. Narco tests are not admissible in court as evidence

Singh Is Bling Heavy Fall On Monday Talvar Strong Hold

Singh Is Bling has had a heavy fall on Monday. The weekend trend was not good with very limited growth on Sunday but there there was a chance that maybe North India may save it as that was holding collections at good levels but it was not to be. East Punjab has crashed from 2.65 crore nett on day one 75 lakhs nett apprx. This is the best performing circuit.

The drop is even bigger in Mumbai with collections struggling to hit even 1.50 crore nett. The all India collections will come in the 5 crore nett range which is pretty much what Brothers did on its first Monday.

Talvar is a surprise success with collections set to come in at around 1.75 crore nett which is very strong and just 30% down from its first day which was a national holiday, if we take out the holiday factor out on day one it has collections which are similar and cound even be more than its actual first day value. Now its just about holding up in a similar range for next couple of days and the film will have a very good run for the next few weeks.
