OMG i logged in after quite a while and you have posted this.. Can i start by saying that I loved your post and agree 100% to whatever you have written.. Now coming to the topic the biggest reason, why it didn't get the cash registers ringing, was because it wasn't promoted well.. It was a joint venture of phantom and dharma but Dharma was responsible for the marketing and this goes without saying that they didn't promote it as well as they usually do.. Probably because this was no Alia movie.. They did the same with brothers as well.. Secondly it was sidneeti which helped them earn whatever they did.. With such dull promotions and 3 other options to watch in the same day HTP came out as a semi hit is a proof of that.. I became a fan of both of sid and pari after watching HTP.. I used to like Parineeti after ishaqzaade but this movie earned her a new fan.. and same goes for Sid.. I became a fan after watching HTP.. Unfortunately people consider a movie as 'good' only if it earns moolah at the box office.. This is a beautiful movie which was unable to do that and it's very unfortunate..

Pathetic movie!! Worst was, the way pari was acting like a retard scientist, for no apparent reason. And I hate the idea of jumping from one sis to another. Such headache that movie was.

well why do people really think that plot is about jumping one sis from another if you really watch the movie, karishma (adaa khan) is her name :/ she was never in love with sid's character, it was more of a relationship and she was just toying with him that's why she never taken him seriously, she considered him a joke...the guy just tried every possible way working out - in the process he actually realized he was in love with meeta coz their sensibilties matched, their hearts and their souls are made for each other...and meeta was more relatable to him than karishma, he fall for her looks, even at the end he was willing to sacrifice his love for karishma but she let him go so where is the problem 😕 he did like meeta at the very start of the movie itself, it was so clear

sid's part was brilliantly etched, i just wished they had worked harder on parineeti's part.. she takes really much time to get into the skin of the character. otherwisr this film is damn good !

Completely agree. It was a movie about the essence of love, how it is a bonding between two hearts and two souls - rest does not matter. When 2 ppl click like sid's and pari's characters ( right from d beginning but dey get separted for 7 yrs) the truth was he never did love karisma, he was just attracted to her.

Sid n pari share a unique chemistry, and it is about the love between them. No matter how unlikely, she n sid's characters loved each other - dat's what mattered.

I actually liked the movie myself! I don't like parineeti offscreen but I quite enjoyed her character and her chemistry with Sid! But I think the movie was too weird for aam junta! Romantic movies hardly work anymore which is such a shame! But that shipping of Sid and parineeti offscreen after the movie puts me off to no end!

I thought the film was very good, and entertaining. And if you ask me much better than some of the other recent dharma films. I don't think the movie was promoted that well compared to other dharma films- it was promoted less than say humpty. Idk why maybe because it had Parineeti instead of Alia. I don't think Karan Johor put too much effort into promoting the film himself at all. It would have done better if he put it more effort. So I actually have no idea- it should have done better in my opinion. I have seen it a couple of times.

One note I would like to make to these supporting characters also : They deserve a mention :
Sid's father Sharat Saxena : Excellent 😆 'yeh ladki toothpaste khati hai' enough said !

ManoJ Joshi Pari's father : Fab acting ! what a gem of an actor. the way he ridicules sid's character and later accepts pari's charac...his scenes were damn good.

Adaa Khan : beautiful - she played an annoying girlfriend superbly ! you feel like giving her a bitch slap a couple of times but then again she brought the lead pair close so no worries 😆

Sid's friends : all awesome actors particularly that overweight guy is pretty cute.

these actors were wasted...totally
Sid's mom - she is a powerpacked performer i guess she comes in YHM she didn't get a single decent moment to leave her mark. a typical mom doesn't suit her.

samir sharma : nikhil's brother : was his character even needed in the story...no contribution whatsoever...and so his wife..

Pari's grandfather : never understood why the hell was he so angry with her, he was treating her as she was supposed to be illegimate child, i wiil kill you, dafana doonga, yeh kamini hai...that looked so OTT, and seriously gross...the anger should have been justified.

still this movie stands out, I will rate it higher because it's the treatment of the story which worked more rather than the story itself

I think they went wrong with the title of the movie, the promos weren't as compelling and Meeta's character confused people in the promos.

I liked the movie especially the female character who is shown to be a scientist and is so passionate about her work, and a male character who is so impressed by her intelligence from the beginning.

That being said I find the movie incomplete. There are a lot of filler scenes with other characters, which could have been left out to focus more on the leads. The timeline is too small as well. They fall in love within a week or so. I just feel we should have seen more scenes with Meeta and Nikhil.
