Those documents were deliberately misplaced so defence lawyer can keep on postponing and dragging the case for 13 more years!

Salman's crores are buying the judges and entire legal system, what can one poor woman do?

They wont even hear her legitimate appeal that an already convicted criminal (in black buck case) cannot get bail for a a 2nd criminal case.

Seriously I hate Indian judicial system that's puppet of celebs and politician.

The judges and lawyers are even more shameless than the criminals as they have sold their professional ethics for money!

Its Round 2 from Sulshila Patil with stronger case but HC rejects again. Supreme court had already rejected her plea earlier in August.
I wished I could help her someway.

There is no justice in India today. My family has many ongoing court cases and I know what judiciary is all about.
And yet no govt will ever overhaul these judges who think they are the emperors of India.

'Salman is a rich man, he can get away...'

Saturday
September 28, 2002
1633 IST

Syed Firdaus Ashraf in Mumbai

Is Salman Khan doomed? Tell us what you think!

Abdullah Shaikh and Mohammed Muslim, the two men who were seriously injured when Salman Khan's Landcruiser ran over them on Saturday morning, are not keen to pursue a case against the actor.

One person, Noor Ullah Khan, was killed when the actor, who was allegedly at the steering wheel, lost control of the car and rammed into some pavement dwellers outside the American Express Bakery in Bandra, northwest Mumbai.

"Salman Khan got away by paying Rs 950 as bail when he killed a person. Do you expect anything to happen to him if I file a case for compensation?" asks Shaikh from his hospital bed at the Bhabha Hospital.

No one from the Khan family has bothered to visit these men.

Muslim has suffered a fractured shaft on the left femur [thigh bone] while Shaikh has an oblique fracture of the tibia and fibula [shin bones] of the right leg.

The hospital, which is managed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, bore the cost of the operations.

"We have a fund in the hospital called poor man's kitty. We take out money from that fund to finance such operations," a senior doctor said, on condition of anonymity.

Muslim's father has arrived in Mumbai to see his son. No one from Abdullah's family has turned up because one of his Mumbai-based uncles is looking after him.

Muslim had come to Mumbai from Gonda two months ago to work and send some money to his parents. Abdullah, who hails from the same area, came nearly ten months ago in order to support his wife and two children.

"I am a poor man and I have no money to eat. How can I bear the legal expenses?" asks Muslim.

"Salman is a rich man and he can get away... I just hope I get normal and start earning for my family," adds Abdullah.

The two victims are worried if they will be able to work in the bakery again. They are also concerned about post-operative expenses.

"We have been told we have to eat medicines regularly for one year. I don't know if I will be able to buy medicines when I am discharged from here," Muslim says.

Are they not angry? "Will I get anything if I get angry?" asks Abdullah. "The reality is there is no justice for the poor. If I had done the same thing, I would have been languishing in jail for life. The police would have questioned and harassed me. But Salman was out on bail in just two hours."

Everyone wants to know about Salman Khan; who cares about Nuru Behra?

Syed Firdaus Ashraf in Mumbai

Nobody wanted to know who the dead man was, but everybody outside the Bandra police station in northwest Mumbai wanted to know the fate of Salman Khan.

Salman KhanEarly on Saturday morning, the Bollywood star had allegedly run over four people killing Nuru alias Behra and injuring three others, two of them seriously.

"Nuru was very upset with life since his wife had left him to marry another man," recalled Mohammad Muslim who was sleeping next to Nuru on the Bandra pavement when the Landcruiser drove over them.

"Just last night he told me how he was passing through a difficult time and how upset he was with life," Muslim said as he lay in the Bhabha hospital with a fractured leg. Alongside lay another of those injured, Abdullah Rauf Shaikh.

"I saw Salman coming out of the car after the accident," Muslim alleged. "He did not have the courtesy to take us to hospital even though we were crying out in pain. He ran away when people (near the accident site) started beating him up and the other man in the car, (singer) Kamal Khan."

Salman Khan was driving down from the J W Mariott hotel in Juhu, about three kilometers away from the accident site, to his home in Bandra. The police complaint alleged he was driving the Landcruiser; traveling him were Kamal Khan and police Constable Ravindra Patil who was there to provide Salman Khan protection after the star complained he had received threats from gangsters.

Muslim alleged that the star's younger brother, actor Arbaaz Khan, arrived soon after the accident to remove the CD player from the vehicle, but he too did not bother to find out who was injured.

"We were crying out in pain, but Salman's brother asked who had dared hit his brother. After the crowd chased him he too ran away," Muslim said. "I am worried how I will meet my medical expenses. I have no money to pay for my treatment."

Muslim, a native of Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, arrived in Mumbai two months ago to work at a bakery so that he could send some money back to his poor parents. He said he had managed to save Rs 1,000 so far to send home.

"I don't know how long it will take for me to recover or when I can get back to work. I only hope someone compensates me for this accident," Muslim said.

Muslim and Shaikh, both of who suffered fractures, have been admitted to the Bhabha hospital, a facility run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. They share a ward with 20 other patients on the hospital's eighth floor.

The owner of the bakery, where Muslim and Shaikh are employed, refused to speak to this correspondent. Other employees were instructed not to speak to the press.

Nuru's body was handed over to his brother, who was initially pushed around by policemen at the Bandra police station; the policemen apparently assumed he was one of those who had gathered outside to get a glimpse of Salman Khan.

It was only when he shouted "My brother has died and I have come to collect his body," that police constables granted him access to the police station.

At 0830 hours Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Yadav at the Bandra police station had told this correspondent, "Salman Khan is absconding. He ran away from the backdoor of his apartment when we went to arrest him. He is wanted by the police."

Salman Khan gave himself up to the police later and was produced at the Bandra police station at 1100 hours.

He was released from police custody after a couple of hours.

By then all API Jadhav would offer by way of comment was "no comment." The police officer was unwilling to explain how Salman Khan was released, and under what circumstances.

Waris Pathan, the star's lawyer, told reporters, "Salman was not driving the car and was sitting in the back seat. I have nothing more to say; the case is sub judice."

Pathan would not confirm if Salman Khan had secured bail. It was left to Wazir Amrohi, one of the star's relatives, to confirm to reporters that Salman Khan had indeed obtained bail and that Amrohi had signed the relevant papers.

Before Salman Khan was released Assistant Commissioner of Police Subhash Jadhav informed reporters, "A case has been registered against Salman Khan under Section 304 (A) of the (Indian Penal Code) for rash and negligent driving. This is a bailable offence and Salman can get bail."

Salman Khan took a blood test to establish if he was driving under the influence of alcohol. However, the test was conducted several hours after the accident occurred.

As the star left the police station, refusing to speak to reporters about the accident that left one man dead and two others seriously injured, reporters were asking themselves if this tragic episode too would end up like the Puru Raaj Kumar and Sanjeev Nanda cases.

Puru Raaj Kumar, son of the late actor Raaj Kumar, drove over several pavement dwellers outside a mosque in Bandra; several died. Three labourers sleeping on the pavement in Delhi's Lodhi Colony died when Nanda, grandson of former naval chief Admiral S L Nanda (retired), drove his BMW over them.

Soon after those accidents, there was much hue and cry in the media and outside. After a while, the accused went on with their lives, and the dead and maimed were forgotten.

Interview with Salman Khan

SS: What were the lessons learnt?
SK
: (Tongue-in-cheek) Move around on a bicycle, talk to the press and reach political functions on time.

SS: But you mustve thought a lot in prison
SK
: In any case, I get a lot of time to think. Didnt have to go to jail to think. I do think a lot. The accident was very unfortunate. I wasnt even driving but no one wanted to listen to me. What can one do? What was destined, happened.

The thing Im saddest about is the mother whose son died and whom I've still not met because if I meet her someone will say Im trying to buy evidence. Her condition makes me most sad. Her image keeps coming back to me whenever I try to sleep. It haunts me. How will she survive in her small hut? That is the thing, which makes me most mad. I cant bring her son back to life. I can only say maaji, Im very sorry.

Accidents mean accidents, it was a mistake. But why is there so much hatred and animosity against me? I dont think I deserve it. 😲 No one tried to verify rumours. The media carried reports without cross-checking information. It was only when my fans started getting upset that people started coming out with the truth. Is it some kind of a game of money and power?

Then they say Im rich and powerful. If I was so rich, powerful and so famous how come I ended up in jail? There are a lot many people who are much more richer and powerful than me. They are the ones who send people like me to jail. Why did I have to go to jail to repent? Why couldn't I have repented at home? 🤪Why did people try to change the law?(look who's talking 🤣)

SS: What was the jail term like?
SK
: It was educational. It was meant to be. I had to see that side. Perhaps, I needed to go inside. I've always seen only luxuries and good things in life. Never seen discomfort. There are so many people who are in jail for no fault of theirs and they are suffering. This has helped to put things in perspective. At first it hurt, not because I was in jail. It was like home to me. Because normally I dont step out of the house. I'm hardly an outdoors person. 🤡 On one hand, I got so much respect and on the other hand so much flak for something I did not do. 😲😲 That was what hurt me the most. But it was destined to be. No one could have stopped it. I had to see it all.

It was very unfortunate. My car had never been scratched before, let alone be involved in an accident. 😳
And I was always the one who picked up people from the street whenever there was an accident.
🤣 The saddest part was that when my car hit somebody I couldn't pick them up and take them to a hospital, which was 20 metres away.

People started throwing stones at me. I was there and did not want to leave. I did not run away. I went away only when they started throwing stones. A rock hit my knee, another one hit my thigh, another my head. I survived that. It was very sad that people said that I ran away and my brother came to pick up the stereo, which was completely wrong. But then it was all destined. Something went wrong and I had to see it all.

I hope it never happens to anybody else. I keep seeing my car going over those people.
No one actually asked me if I cared, they just wanted a piece of Salman Khan and they got a lot of it. It was disgusting.

SS: But what about your short-tempered, arrogant image?
SK
: My image has been like this for many years. Why change it? Let people believe that Im ill-mannered, short tempered and arrogant. Those who really know me friends, family and fans know what Im like and Im nothing like this.

Who has given me this image? Those who wanted to know about my personal life and didnt have access to me have given me this image of being a brash brute. But my friends and staff wouldnt have stayed with me for so long if I was that way.

About other peoples impressions, let them think what they like. I just want them to stay away from me. Those who hate me, I dont hate them because they are not relevant or important to me. They demean themselves. I thank God for making me what I am, that he has given me this position.

SS: Are your problems a result of your being excessively emotional?
SK
: I'm as emotional as everyone else. I cry and laugh like an ordinary man.

SS: Have you grown after the accident? Do you plan to begin life afresh?
SK
: You grow each day. Its not that you really grow wiser. You just relate to all these things. When they happen to you they become so personal and disturbing. Life is an accident. Death is not. Everybody has to go one day. When people come and tell me take it easy, it was a mistake, accidents do happen, they dont know what Im going through. Ill have to live with this for the rest of my life. But really theres nothing inside me that has changed because only those people change who are only doing bad deeds, and are deliberately doing wrong things.

There were people who said that I should be sent to a mental asylum, that I should be hung those with the power of the pen, who have now weakened it so much. It is they who should get themselves mentally checked the ones who have made their powerful pen so weak. They did not even listen to my side. Didnt want to know my side. Maybe I didnt want to talk about it. So my silence was taken as being rude, rash, selfish like I have something to hide.

SS: Being a superstar, shouldnt you be a better role model for the young?
SK
: Im not spoiling the younger generation. There are thousands of young guys working out in gyms across the country because of me.

SS: What about your tantrums and the much-publicised outbursts with Aishwarya Rai?
SK: Can anybody force anybody to do something? What one doesnt want to do? So, let that go.

SS: Your accident happened the same night when an interview with Aishwarya was published where she said you used to beat her up
SK
: I hadn't even read it. And in any case I think she has denied it all. Theres no connection between the two. 🤡🤪

SS: You friends and your family also say that you are an obsessive lover and so emotional that you forget everything.
SK:
Being emotional is that good or bad? Who decides that? Everything keeps changing. Maybe tomorrow Ill not be thinking like this at all. But if I do change itll be for the worse, because then Ill become manipulative and calculative and start being nice to people I hate. Would you want that?
I went in with my head held high and Ive come out with my head held high.

SS: Your obsessive love for Aishwarya gets you into trouble.
SK
: Its not that at all.(What a pathological liar 🤢)

SS: Do you still love her?
SK
: Im not going to talk to you about this. It is for me to know and only I shall know about it.

SS: What are your plans now?
SK
: When you want to make God laugh, make plans. Lets see what happens next. Right now Im taking a break. Maybe I will start work tomorrow, maybe I will take a months break. Maybe Ill just go to my farmhouse and start farming. 🤪 But one thing is certain, till I'm in fine, healthy in mind and body and God is with me, nobody can stop me. Nobody. 🤬🤢
