Sooraj-I-took-my-acting-classes-in-Gold-Gym looks like Gautam Gulati's body double. Look close, he even smiles like him. The character he plays is like a grown up Darsheel Safari. He doesn't sing ma, he tattoos it.

Athiya-mere-pappa-anna-hain-Shetty is beautiful . Her dialogue delivery though reminded me of Shaina NC on Times Now: lots of words and no feelings. But it's not her fault. The character was badly written!!

This times review is not even a proper review, it seems like someone wrote it after watching the trailer and without actually watching the whole movie.

Keeping my fingers crossed for this to flop and THE END for that murderous prick's career. 😃

At least around 60

irector Nikhil Advani is busy promoting two films, Hero and Katti Batti , which release on 11 September and 18 September, respectively. Catch interacted with the talented director who spoke about Hero , Salman Khan, the music of his films and a lot more:

Simultaneous releases were de rigeur in the'80s and '90s. However, now, every actor and director wants to give the audience some breathing space, instead of inundating them with their films. Given this, it is surprising that director Nikhil Advani has back-to-back releases in September.

Nikhil Advani

He explains, " It is not a good thing for a director to work on two films simultaneously and it is very unfortunate that Hero and Katti Batti are releasing in the same month. I wish this had not happened but some things are not in my hands. We took a collective decision that Salman's first home production should be Bajrangi Bhaijaan as that would also give Hero a push. Hero was initially slated to release on 3 July, however we postponed it to September. Thankfully Hero and Katti Batti are not releasing on the same day!"

Salman Khan - The Producer

Salman Khan at Bajrangi Bhaijaan Trailer Launch

Apart from having two releases in the same month, Nikhil Advani is also one of the few directors who actually welcomes creative inputs and changes from the producer. According to him, he had to force Salman Khan to be involved in Hero . "He is the kind of producer who does not like to interfere during the shoot. He was involved in the post production and suggested some valuable changes. I incorporated them without even thinking twice. Hero is Salman's baby and you can say I am just the doctor who delivered it. I had decided the day I got a call from him to direct the film that I will follow each and every piece of his advice," says Advani.

Advani's films have always had great music. Be it Kal Ho Naa Ho and Salaam-E-Ishq or Chandni Chowk To China, D Day and Hero , the tunes and lyrics have always struck a chord with the audience. Explains Advani, "I really don't know how all my films have good music. It might be because we collaborate with the right people. The music for my films originates from the script. I work very hard with the lyricist so that the songs are in sync with the script. So it's a collective effort. I just can't work without songs."

Sooraj and Athiya in Hero

Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty in Hero

After getting the rights to remake Hero from Subhash Ghai and signing Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty for the film, Advani was the fourth person who got the call from Salman Khan to be associated with the film. He remembers, "The narration I got for Hero from Salman Khan was 'launch Sooraj and Athiya the way I was launched by Sooraj Barjatya. Just go and give your best'. Hero's budget is less than the second day collection of Bajrangi Bhaijaan i.e. it is less than Rs 36 crore, so there is nothing to worry in case of Return on Investment for the producer. Salman has made sure that the film is mounted on a huge scale and you can see that in the trailer. Full marks to him as there can't be a better producer."

Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan

There are reports that Advani has signed Hrithik Roshan for his next film titled Bazaar . Advani clarifies them, "Yes, Hrithik and I had some conversations about the film. I have met him and his manager a couple of times but we have not yet finalised anything."

Salman Khan in Salaam E Ishq

A Still from Salaam-E-Ishq

Speaking about the opportunity of directing Salman Khan yet again after the not-so-successful Salaam-E-Ishq , Advani says, "Salman chooses his directors so I have no idea when I will get a chance to direct him again. I will write a few scripts and when I feel a particular character suits his persona, I would love to do a film with him again."

Hero releases on 11 September 2015.
So the budget is 36 Cr.

Hero movie review: Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty manage to shine despite a weak script!
This week is one of the most exciting ones for Bollywood as two star kids - Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty will make their Bollywood debut with Salman Khan's production venture. Aditya Pancholi's son and Suneil Shetty's daughter will star in Nikhil Advani's directorial venture, Hero, which is a remake of Subhash Ghai's 1983 classic that starred Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri. I saw the film and here's my take on the new version of the classic film...
What's it about:
Nikhil Advani's Hero begins like any other film with two aspiring debutantes would. The camera plays with Sooraj's well chiseled torso, showcasing his flex ready biceps and that hawk eyed gaze which becomes his USP through the film. A remake of the 1983 Jackie Shroff- Meenakshi Sheshadri film, the story has been given a 2015 makeover. The core elements remain - warring families, puppy love simmering against a bloody backdrop with musical numbers that showcase two newcomers. Athiya Shetty plays Sooraj's love interest Radha, who is a heady concoction of the girl next door who has a dramatic metamorphosis nearing the blood soaked climax. It's a traditional love story tailor made to emphasize Sooraj and Athiya's strengths and attempt to hide their weaknesses. Along the way we meet a bunch of characters played by the parents, friends and not one but two baddies who let Sooraj show off his fighting skills. Sooraj and Radha's love story isn't glitch free, but there it definitely manages to give these two young actors a decent debut vehicle.

What's hot:

From the very first frame Sooraj Pancholi fills up the screen with this charm and sex appeal. There will be a lot of oohs and aahs from girls (and a few boys) when he rips that shirt apart and makes his stunning entry. There is a certain ease about him which leaves a lasting impression. Sooraj will definitely be lapped up after Hero by other filmmakers who would hopefully give him diverse roles. Athiya might bear an uncanny resemblance to Sonam Kapoor, but she breaks that early on in the film. As the goofball who doesn't know what situation she's thrown in, Athiya plays Radha will utmost conviction. The cinematography works in the first half, especially in the scenes up north. Sooraj and Athiya have great chemistry which works in making their story favorable. Aditya Pancholi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vivan Bhatena and Chetan Hansraj are the supporting pillars to the love story. Nikhil Advani impresses in scenes where Sooraj and Radha are speaking through their eyes rather than words.

What's not:

The problem lies with the script. It just isn't innovative or fresh enough. Advani plays safe and doesn't offer anything new. The story sort of reaches a stale mate in the second half. The introduction of Vivan Bhatena as the baddie seems like an added distraction to shift focus from the lack of a cohesive plot. Also Athiya's costumes and make up looks sketchy, especially the close ups. There are some badly edited scenes. Sooraj and Athiya fall in a downstream river that oddly takes them up north where Athiya offers prayers to Buddha ji' promising him she will abscond from all things bad. Only if she had made a similar promise after reading the shoddy script. Except the title song, nothing stands out. In fact the Romeo Juliet skit act in the second half just tests our patience wearing us out. Sooraj has a fantastic body, but every time he rips his shirt to shred, we don't need a minute long tribute to his naked torso.

What to do:

Sooraj and Athiya show immense promise. Unfortunately, Hero doesn't do justice to their potential.

Not surprised a bit. Hero wasn't a classic to begin with ... Yes, it had awesome musical score but the story line was typical 80s potboiler. Why would anyone want to revive it? 😆

SooThiya, Good Bye! Find another Daddy to sponsor your next adventures.

Doesn't make any difference to SKF. The show will continue on...

Hero Movie Review - Sooraj Pancholi gets a decent debut film

September 10, 2015 0

Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty's launch pad Hero produced by Salman Khan released on 11th September 2015. Is the film worth the watch? Find out here:

Bareback body shot pulling the boat, pull ups at the Bandra - Worli sea link and then comes the slow-motion entry of our Hero, Sooraj Pancholi . A bull dozer, shattering the cement wall and then we get the glimpse of Sooraj Pancholi which is as Seeti-Maar and as Heroic as Salman Khan in Dabangg 2.

It seemed that the entire episode of Sooraj's entry was designed keeping Salman Khan in mind and the young actor does complete justice to the entry sequence. 10 Minutes into the film and you realize the next action star Sooraj Pancholi is here. Carrying off a larger than life personality is never an easy thing and surprisingly, right in his debut film Sooraj does that with ease.

Then our director Nikhil Advani introduces the female lead, a hot top girl from Bandra, Radha (Athiya Shetty) at a night pub in Mumbai. This is yet again a very good introductory scene which might remind of you of many Bollywood introductory sequence. What follows post the introduction of two debutants is an half-hearted attempt to launch two stars who have the potential to make it big.

Hero is a mixed bag and so let us first talk about what goes in favour of the film. Hero rides on some brilliantly designed action sequences performed convincingly by Sooraj Pancholi. Along with the great action sequences another thing which benefits Hero to an large extent is the way they have shot the film. The grandeur of Kashmir and Paris will make those destinations form a part of your bucket list right away. The opening credit of the film which showcases the aerial view of Mumbai looks stunning on the screen. The background score goes on well with the screenplay and adds up onto building the tension in the film. Athiya Shetty who seemed complete out of sync in the trailer, she is decent in the film. She needs considerable improvement in all departments especially the dialogue delivery.

The biggest drawback of Hero is that the things happen too easily. The screenplay used to establish the Love Story' between Sooraj and Radha look unconvincing or rather does not connect. The film does get a bit boring and drags at many instances which are mostly the emotional sequences. A film titled Hero, having a central character who has the potential to lip the heroic dialogues with ease required some very good Heroic dialogues, however the same are far and few in the film. A few punch dialogues would have had an ever lasting impact.

The music is one of the major highlights of the film with each and every song being shot and incorporated well into the screenplay. Watch out for O Khuda which is shot on a huge scale on the lines of some classics like Ek Haseena Thi from Karzz and Om Shaanti Om title song. It's a treat to watch as the entire story of the film is unfolded beautifully in the song.

Talking about performances, like we have been mentioning Salman Khan has given the industry a future action star. Sooraj Pancholi has a brilliant screen presence with the ability to mouth the dialogues convincingly. Last year, Tiger Shroff made a grand debut in Bollywood and even he displayed the ability to pull of the action sequences convincingly however as far as acting is concerned, Sooraj has an upper hand over Tiger. Another point to be noted is that Tiger scores over Sooraj in dancing department and if we have to look onto the future prospect, Bollywood should consider itself lucky to have two actors who can perform action with a lot of conviction. Athiya Shetty as a hot and spoilt brat from Bandra looks good however is a bit raw. Tigmanshu Dhulia as Radha's father - IG Srikant Mathur and Aditya Pancholi as Pasha are two characters which provide the much needed conflict in the film. Chetan Hansraj and Sharad Kelkar do their part well and lend the necessary support.

Hero is a decent on time watch mainly because of the Hero - Sooraj Pancholi who performs the stylishly designed action sequences with ease. The canvas of the film of the film and the music go hugely in favour and saves some scenes from being a complete goner.

To sum up, irrespective of the content, Hero rides on the shoulder of Sooraj Pancholi who is sure to be greeted with a lot of Seeti's and Taali's, while people might give a few Gaali's' for the story.
