SCENE: Shashi Orders Coffee in NYC

FILM: ENGLISH VINGLISH - 2012

ACTOR: SRIDEVI

In this scene, Sridevi (as Shashi) goes to a coffee shop all alone on her first outing. Sri does a splendid job in displaying the body language - unsure, nervous, embarrassed in fleeting moments. In the beginning, I loved how she was standing, holding her bag and looking around to find a young couple making out. Later being confused by the ordering sequence and options presented to her, you can see how her tone changes. Especially, note her tone when she says SANDWICH (sighing thinking the ordeal is over as she recognizes a familiar term) and by the time she has given her coffee order, her tone has "almost about to cry" quality... and then of course, running out and bursting out on the bench.

I was in tears in the theatre when I saw this scene and till this date, I still get affected by her character's vulnerability and helplessness. 😭

The scene shows cultural shock very well and how things that are so easy back home, may at times be difficult abroad. Well directed by Gauri Shinde and brilliantly acted by Sri ⭐️

About that scene , that is a sequence i try to avoid when watching re run of english vinglish

I guess it showcase how hard hitting that performance is..it is also a scene that depend on sri devi acting capability,there was no dialogue but just to emote ..the helplessness and the embarrasment .

I love this scene of Karisma from Zubeidaa. Lolo's career best. Everything about this film was perfect. Acting, Music, story, screenplay, direction...

I love how the camera zooms to Zubeidaa while she is making a life changing decision to have her husband just for her. Lolo's eyes speak volumes and Lata's voice in haunting AR Rahman's score is simply magical. Later, the scene is supported by the awesome Rekha (who was born to play regal queen) and Manoj. Truly a gem by Shyam Benegal.

Sridevi is a great artist, just flawless on screen👏

One of my favourite scenes from Khamoshi...😊

Nana patekar and Seema biswas, a disabled couple r happy that their daughter achieves success...and he gives a speech narrated by Salman...Salman was simply good along with Manisha , Nana and Seema in this scene...😊

Wonderful choice. I loved this scene and was bawling too when I saw it upon its release. Khamoshi was SLB's best IMO - raw, authentic before he got tainted by the razzle - dazzle extravaganza.

Bhai acted while the others were effortless. This movie lost out on National Awards that year because the producers didn't submit the copy by deadline. Had it been in the reckoning, it would have picked up some acting awards for Nana, Seema and Manisha. 👏

one of the epic and most memorable scenes in BW...

the acting here is brilliant... Kamal's efforts to make Sridevi understand that he was her caretaker,doing antics to remind her but Sridevi turns indifferent thinking that he is a mad guy...such a heartwrenching scene...applause to Kamal one of the finest actors of Indian cinema and Sridevi too...

This one is another famous scene in BW ...

Munna dressed in yellow shirt and pant,kind of fancy dress 😆...He takes Mili on a date in a five star restaurant for the first time...he tries to be comfortable...the conversation between him and the waiter is funny and the disgust looks on the waiter's face 😆...Aamir was brilliant and even the actor who played the waiter's role...Urmilla too responded well here...
