To all my friends here...
Please watch 1971 stars Manoj Bajpai and Deepak Dobriyal (Pappiji)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1971_(2007_film)

It won the National Award for Best Film (Hindi) for 2007. God Bless the Jury who were wise enough to see the merit in this gem!⭐️👏👏

This could have been a worthy Oscar submission.

Lage Raho was submitted as an independent entry, no? It was sent with RDB for the one before Eklavya.

I have seen only Khosla Ka Ghosla and Traffic Signal from this list. I don't think either of them should've been sent. Traffic Signal would've been better than Eklavya though.

I have no idea about the time period. I assumed Jan-Dec since that's what it is for the American films. But foreign language shortlisting is a lot more rigorous so they might have something else for that.

Yea regional movies are always there but my knowledge is mostly limited to Bollywood. That disclaimer of regional cinema also being there is attached to any and every comment I make regarding Oscar nominations. But from my end, I can only comment on hindi films.

may be u are right Jan-Dec thing.Though 'Liar's dice' released in 2013 October and but selected for 2014
16 regional movies were sent to Oscar before. So that disclaimer would always remain

I could be wrong, I never researched this. I always just assumed. Liar's Dice is a very weird case. It's yet to release in India. So far it's only been screened at film festivals. So I really don't know on what basis they sent it. Haider is also touted as being in the running for 88th Academy Awards. So it's quite possible they have a different time-frame. 2 months might not be enough to screen through all foreign language entries.
