Why West Over Shadowed Bollywood Films/Music...Was westren style was more powerful to our youth if today any one make a songs like music of film Tere Naam,Tum Bin or Refugee , Veer Zara or 90's stuff it will be considered as outdated music why?? But the public will scream and shout for anything which have a westren touch to it no matter how weired good or bad the lyrics are for them it will be a chart topper or soundtrack i.e the likes of honey singh etc.. What happened to listners who prefer westren sound on traditional hindi music for which bollywood once was famous for? Same is the case with films they adopting many things from west film the short dress or lyp kissing was their demand non of earlier films had much of these scenes but today lyp kissing is necessary in every film why this generation adopting westren thing and forgetting their tradtional roots be in music or films?

Truth be told, as much as these so-called pop-busters are being enjoyed today, they are only short-lived. I guess most of the people seem to enjoy it for the foot-tapping music and also since it appears "cool"!

But thankfully, we also have movies like Aashique 2, Lootere and a few other movies where soulful songs and melodies are still being made. And a couple of years from now, these and the evergreen songs of Kishore, Md. Rafi, Lata, Asha are the only ones that are gonna be played.

Music must have soul. Whether it has western influences or eastern is secondary. Soul is what is missing from majority of the songs these days in BW.

The main problem today is that good songs today have been mistaken for songs which anybody can sing and dance to. I mean,duh?

Dance music may be one genre,but even there,the music needs to be effective enough to get you into a sort of trance. Which IMO is totally missing in the Honey singh songs et all.

The kind of chartbuster songs these days bolly is producing have sleazy lyrics and average musical elements in them.

Anyway,as someone said rightly above,this kind of music is short lived (or so I hope!)

Its not that we dont have good musicians. (Watch MTV Indies for like 15 minutes or so,the kinds of songs there will blow your mind. Divine,really.)

There is a new genre which is slowing picking up pace in south India calledcarnatic Rock. Best of both worlds. Amazing really,mixing up Indian classical to Rock.

Indian cinema has always been obsessed with all things western.

Even old films have scenes, tunes, costumes,stories lifted from the West.

It's considered advanced, modern, as if better and more classy.

"Lyp kissing" has been around since times of Ashok Kumar and Devika Rani. It is not a recent phenomenon.

They have usually had international standards guide them.
