Salman Khan fails to beat Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan in the box office race!
Bajrangi Bhaijaan earned lavishly, but it wasn't enough...
Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan kept its promise with the box office last weekend. Everyone knew the film was going to be a smash hit and perhaps Salman's biggest blockbuster. It earned lavishly at the box office which made everyone in the industry very happy. With only a handful of films in the first half of the year making money, BB's massive collections worked as a balm. But despite earning copiously, Salman failed to defeat Shah Rukh Khan's record. BB has earned 102.6 cr on its opening weekend whereas SRK's Happy New Year took home 108. 86 cr. In fact,BB stayed behind Aamir's Dhoom 3 as well which earned 107.61 cr!
Many were expecting a 30 crore opening day turnout but BB fell short of that mark and earned 27.25 crore, but Saturday and Sunday made people grin ear to ear with 36.60 cr and 38.7 cr respectively. But despite such plush collections, it couldn't level Shah Rukh's score. It also couldn't match up to Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 first weekend total either.
But all you fans of Salman Khan out there, don't lose heart. So what it couldn't go beyond HNY's total. Do remember that Salman has as many as eight 100 crore films in his kitty while Shah Rukh has five followed by Ajay Devgn. So it's time to cheer him! To aaj ki party kisiki taraf se?!
