Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... earned a worldwide gross of 1.17 billion (US$19 million). Internationally, the film was the highest grossing Indian film ever, until its record was broken by Johar's next directorial, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006). When adjusted for inflation, the film is the fifth highest grosser worldwide, with an adjusted gross of 2.24 billion (US$36 million). Box Office India called it "one of the true worldwide blockbusters of Hindi cinema".

So Was it coz of Hrithik film had this magna opus success, does he overshadowed Srk?

It's difficult to say as both had strong roles and played very well...but to some extent Hrithik did stole the limelight as a lover boy in second half.

No Doubt thr was such craze for him @ time. Even Soniya was more popular than Suraj Hua Madham.
